This group helps families,Seniors and singles with fresh groceries weekly at different locations around the city. The only constructive criticism I would add is to have the women with small children go first. Some do. But most don’t. I’ve had to leave before because baby was fussing and we couldn’t wait an hour. Just a kind request so that some people don’t miss out.

Grateful for the much-needed groceries and kind people at Saanichton today. Thank you.Would have given 5 stars were it not for a hurtful, insensitive experience that has me wary of returning:Before anyone could receive a number or line up for food, a volunteer gave a mini-sermon on the subject of fathers (which she herself acknowledged could be difficult to hear) the failings of fathers, the decline in morals in society that causes poor fatherhood, that these same reasons are why there are higher' rates of men in jails, etc. since the pandemic. (Zero acknowledgement for the disproportionate number of BIPOC men due to systemic injustice nor that jail is itself a for profit-industry in North America, etc.)This was followed by an intense and long prayer that frequently invoked the Holy Father" and "Jesus Christ."
