The Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Care Plan

Not one person answers the phone. There's no chance to use a directory either. Was able to call Peel Ontario health line, get my information sent to me by mail in three days. Yet I've been trying to reach someone, anyone from this joke of a place for 2 weeks now and nothing.

After looking up the address, I saw that the reviews were quite low. My experience at the MCP office couldn’t have gone better. I was in and out in under 15 minutes with my new card. The staff was pleasant and wonderful to deal with. A+

Seriously the rudest and most degrading staff I have ever dealt with. Since when did our healthcare plan become stricter then the boarder. Soulless, Incapable, incompetent and entitled staff run the place you'd swear they are all criminals .

I tried to apply the out of province medical coverage certificate on Dec 20 or 23, then they canceled my MCP WITHOUT A NOTICE! I AM A NEWFOUNDLAND RESIDENT AND I DO PAY FOR THEIR TAX! NOW I DO NOT HAVE A MEDICAL PLAN IN CANADA! So EVIL! They even did not put any clear regulations on mcp website, then fool you around after you dropped off your application.

Awful. Didn't think it would be this bad for a government run place. No forms of contact.

parking is decent (it's also free) and the lineups move quickly. building is well laid out and is well kept

As a student who left NL to pursue graduate studies, I have found the process of applying for out of province coverage to be somewhat of a hassle. The form itself is simple, but the fact that you apply for an out of province coverage certificate (as you now are residing out of the province) but they won't mail the certificate to your OOP address unless you make a special request is somewhat frustrating.I also did not appreciate that when they initially sent me my new card, there was no letter provided stating that you must also keep your old card. Both cards look identical aside from the fact that the new card now has a much earlier date of expiry. When I called a year later requesting a new card to go along with my renewed OOP certificate, as a card is much more convenient to have on your person at all times as opposed to carrying the certificate, the staff I was I'm contact with was extremely condescending about the fact that I had safely destroyed my old card.It would be great to see improvements made with both the communication from MCP staff as well as increased efficiency with regards to the distribution process of cards. (Current turn around took approximately 1 month for a renewal)!

Wow reception line had 10 people waiting, i asked a lady in the next office for a pen, had to repeat 3 times because she was speaking over me saying i had to wait in line, finaly got a pen, fill the form in french because i prefer french form to avoid mistake, they asked me to the desk, and saying the form wasnt well fill, but they didn t know the question in french were in differant order , so i had to fill the english form with the lady because she had no clue what was written in french, so why do they offer french form if they cant read it? Good job,

Tried calling twice, not available try again later. Took the bus for an hour just to get to the front door and find there's no counter service anymore. Lot of time and mental energy wasted.

Instead of letting your staff to turn away frustrated clients, here is a suggestion- how about being EXPLICIT with everything, plus the conditions under each circumstances, one needs to successfully renew his or her MCP card? I checked the website and I also called the line to make sure I had everything needed, yet when I got there, I was told that my documentation was incomplete. For example, the employment letter must not be older than 30 days (why isn't this stated anywhere online). Also, I have a VALID work permit, yet I was still told to GO HOME and bring alongside my old permit and receipt for new permit application (what for??).
