Decided to go to harbour grace to see the old boat in the harbour with a few friends/family. After a quick google review we found this place. The food was awesome, prices were fantastic.

Not the best Fish & Chips at all! A two piece Fish equals a one piece at most other places, I mean really small. Batter was somewhat burnt. Chips were ok, gravy was almost pure cornstarch - very thin, and flavourless.. The fryer fat should have been changed. I may have been there on an off day, but I definitely wouldn't recommend the Fish & Chips. Sad too, the place had a nice diner charm inside. (Edit: I slightly increased my review because the owner reached out to me and suggested that I should have brought it to their attention to correct, I couldn't have brought back my take-out order as I was the passenger of the vehicle and we had to continue on with our journey. But they also explained about their cooking oil being off tasting - to me.. I will honour their explanation and it could have been something else that was cooked towards the end of the oils life that threw off the flavour) however, I do stand by the smaller portions of Fish.. I do eat a ridiculous amount of fish and chips and from a large variety of restaurants in the eastern /Avalon regions. I am afraid that your portions are on the smaller side. A piece of fish on average in my experience is about 5 inches long, 11/2 inches thick and about 3 plus inches wide.. What I received was 3x3 inches, one piece was a thin tail piece, the other was a decent thickness) Your price makes it perhaps more affordable, but when others are use to getting a larger portion, this is what is expected. You can charge $10 for a 2 pc fish and chips and have each piece smaller still, but again, the fish is smaller than average size wise as I stated regardless of the price.. I can easily name off 10+ take-outs with larger pieces of fish for only a dollar or two more than you charge. I can also name 2 take-outs with portions similar to your size, both slight more expensive, so I'll give you that. But at the end of the day, I only reviewed what I experienced on my particular order, maybe I was their on a off-day".?)"

Food was ok not worth the price, service was not good server seemed annoyed by having to do her job. Overall wasn’t worth it definitely Wont be returning.

Nice home cooking in Harbour grace NL. Prices are very reasonable. We had hot roast beef dinner and hot turkey sandwich. Portions were very good. The beef was a little tough but it was tasty and they were very generous on the portion. We will return.

Fabulous homestyle cooking, generous portions. We were very happy with our visit to Kay's. The food was delicious. They could stand to have bottled or filtered water as the tap water isn't the best, kind of boggy tasting but that is my only complaint. Service was great and prices very reasonable.

Southern Fried chicken and chips are a knock-out. Really good, I suggest eating there for best experience.

The ladies are great good hospitality towards me I told her my fish was a little small and the amazing cook reimbursed me. Me and my mother loved the food and the experience. Thank you, sincerely shawnI will return.
