Cranberry Cove Scuba Dive Site
OverviewCranberry Cove is a fun place to dive. You can practice navigation using the sand ripples on the ocean floor and the rock formations that you will find underwater. The clear visibility is great for taking photographs of the abundant vegetation and marine life such as pollack, flounder ,lobster, wolf eels, crabs and starfish. The low depths is a great place to practice buoyancy or use newly purchased dive gear for the first time. In the winter the trees and high rock formations around the cove shelter divers from the wind making for an enjoyable winter dive and in the summer offers privacy for a group picnic or barbecue. After a dive you can go sightseeing at Peggy's Cove and enjoy a beautiful drive home following the Lighthouse Route. Be safe and enjoy!Site Description:Cranberry Cove is a shore dive that is just a few minutes drive away from Peggy's Cove. It can be used all year round by divers of all skills but is especially a good site for novice divers. It is a very scenic dive that offers very good viability, lots of sea-life in the warmer months, lots of rock formations that are interesting and fun to swim around. Also for the novice divers the depths range from 8 feet to 24 feet and it is an excellent place to practice buoyancy.Bottom Composition and Depth:Sandy to rocky, nice crevices and ravines. Shallow. 25ft. Sheltered.Visibility:Visibility can be limited due to weather. 20 - 35ft normally.Notes:There are no canteen or washroom facilities at Cranberry Cove. However, it is a great spot for a picnic or small barbecue. If someone has to use the washroom the woods are readily available but it suggested that a sanitary bag is brought along to keep the area clean.Hazards and Safety:STEEP AND NARROW PATH The pathway that leads from the roadway to the dive site. It is a very short walk but the path is steep and narrow in parts and rocks that stick out in various directions making it easy to trip. If you are carrying gear to the site it is recommended that you do several trips to avoid any accidents. To get to the entry point you must walk down to a small rock pool. It is only several feet but can be very SLIPPERY from the water and seaweed and very ICY in the winter.HIGH EXIT AT LOW TIDE When the tide is low, exit from this point can be difficult for some of our smaller divers. Take your time and work together.

Cranberry Cove is a great location for new divers, and a lovely spot for experienced divers looking for a nice relaxed shore dive near Halifax. Picturesque, calm, and nice view of Peggy's Cove.

Get out of your car and experience Peggys Cove from afar. Great short walking trail to open up a little world detached from the crowd. Many species of flora to enjoy, and you can get closer to the waves on rougher days.

I didn't Scuba here but it's a great spot to wander across the rocks and take in the beautiful scenery, including Peggy's Cove and the rock formations. There are confusingly marked spots to park on the highway. The signs say no parking in either direction, EXCEPT the space between them.

Cranberry Cove Scuba Dive Site
Good site for a straight forward dive and taking good pictures of Peggy's cove.Short hike in from the road, about 200 m. Easy entry.Recommend you take a stroll in first to scope out the site.Water temp was in the high 50s in early August.Lots of lobster, crabs. Supposedly there is a wreck in the center of the cove.Good site to work on video and photography
