While I understand taking a first aid course is a very important thing to pay attention to.. it makes it seriously miserable and uncomfortable when you have an instructor like Joyce. Why In the world do you keep her around when not only has she been complained about before but she continues to be extremely rude and unpleasant towards people that are paying to learn. She belittes, insults, gives snarky comments, yells at you if you’re a minute EARLY or on time and slam doors in people’s faces three feet away from entering the room. High horse- I’m better than you, attitude. She kicked people out of the class because they didn’t understand what she was asking/telling them to do. God forbid they have a normal human function and get nervous and ask questions. For a place that specializes in helping others, she lacks all of the above. Clearly she hasn’t been talked to since the last review on her or she just doesn’t care. Disgusting behaviour for someone her age. I really hope you do something about her.All of the other staff are wonderful and helpful though, so thank you for them!

I had a wonderful experience at my level A CPR/AED training. My instructors name was Dave and he was very easy for me to pay attention to (I usually have difficulty following lessons as I get bored easily.) His pace was quick enough to keep me attentive, and he was quick to return to things anyone asked to be clarified upon. His candor was excellent though I noticed those who get distracted and can't take accountability did not get along with him in the class. I however had a wonderful experience and would reccomend to anyone!

Don’t recommend booking a class with Joyce, rude, unprofessional, and if you have anxiety it will amplify if you have to train with her. She screamed in my face saying that I didn’t blow hard enough on the ventilaton mask and I don’t need to act so “ladylike” when it was my first time in this setting and I was clearly getting anxious from her yelling. She is fine during lecture portions, but during practical portion she is insanely rude. We were tying cloth Bandaids onto our partner and mine was not folded properly and I was trying to figure out how to do so, she ripped out of my hand and said u shud remeber this from yesterday. I was sweating and had so much anxiety from this instructor. Parking is also bad here.

I have been involved in occupational first aid for 30 years and the quality of instructor is paramount to the success of the student. The Abbotsford branch has a lousy instructor and her success rate is consistently 25%. She needs to be replaced

Instructor was great, training room was clean and tidy, support staff polite and helpful, parking left a little to be desired.

Honestly not very pleased. To start off instructor Dave was somewhat rude and unpleasant. There were roughly 8 contradictions in the power point where the class was told to disregard the points made in the PowerPoint and to adapt the verbal substitutes (according to new standards /regulations). the 42” tv screen is not professional by any means (especially if you’re sitting towards the back of the class). the plastic seats were uncomfortable to sit in for 8hours. I’m saying this from the perspective of being an industry worker who takes multiple 1 and 2 day courses through out the year. I just had a course at Pacific Rim Safety today (day after St. John ambulance in Abbotsford) and the professionalism along with seating, teaching aids and supplies really shows what a quality learning experience is in contrast to St. John ambulance. I am also not vaccinated and it was not a pre req to signing up at St. John ambulance yet I was singled out and Dave asked the class for a vote to see if they were comfortable with me being in attendance ..utterly unacceptable. On top of that at the end of class you’re not sent home with the booklet you referred to and if you’d like your certification cards laminated we were asked to go make payment at front desk. What kind of shanty operation is this. Very very disappointed in the service provided by such a reputable name. The vaccine call out (when not being a pre req) has little bearing on me wanting to share my experience. Just a garbage experience.

Had quite a bad experience here today with Joyce, i don't recommend anyone takes a course with her as the instructor. She's a nasty opinionated lady, acts much like a old fashioned school teacher. She makes first aid training here miserable.I've been to several St.Johns first aid courses over the years, and its always been a relatively good experience.Joyce was nasty and snappy from the minute the class started, she would almost set little traps" letting the class do something wrong
