GrandDad's Old Fashion Ice Cream

Fun little place that I brought my mom to today after an afternoon at the beach. Super friendly and 48 delicious flavours to pick from. Prices are a little steep, but ice cream is high quality and yummy! Will definitely be coming back

So I had to stick up for them and tell them if they didnt like it to leave. This ice cream shop is nothing but amazing!! And on nice summer night please go and grab a ice cream from this shop

service was good, ice cream wasn’t great and melted immediately after leaving the store. we got cookies and cream as well as coconut. i did find the concept cute though with the theme matching the water and sailing village vibe in the area. I come from texas where it’s much hotter than it was when I bought this ice cream so I didn’t expect it to melt quite so fast, as even in Texas on a 90+ degree day it lasts much longer than it did here.

8$ for 2 scoops of ice cream in medium cup n it’s average at best…

My kids were happily run inside the shop and the owner said “Cash only, choose your size” in a very cold tone and stare, cold face, without even say a “Hi”. I observed other costumers walk into the shop after, she is cheering a bit and use much softer tone. Hopefully I’m only snowflakeing here. However, this is not our first time here and this happened every single time when the owner is here. Sadly, my kids love ice creams and I love them so much. So we will still comeback and I have to spend my money on this shop every time we passing by. I Do like the girl she haired, very friendly. If there is any improvement, I will happily change this review to 5 star, for the love of supporting local business in Pickering.

Had some Kawartha ice cream after lunch in this nice neighbourhood by the water. Double mini scoop was generous at a decent price.

This sweet little ice cream shop is in the perfect location; right by the lake in Frenchman's Bay and therefore is quite a popular spot (it is the only ice cream shop in the immediate area). It is extremely unfortunate that the woman who works in this shop treats customers with utter disrespect. She appears to have zero skills in simple communication and comes off quite condescending. Along with the poor customer service skills comes the high prices that just don't feel fair for the amount of ice cream that she serves. I paid just under $8.00 for one scoop of ice cream and the ice cream didn't even go into the cone, it just sat on top. As I was paying, she made comments on the fact that I will have to pay an additional fee to use my debit card and then continued to sulk and express her unhappy emotions while she assembled her debit machine. Overall it was a very strange and uncomfortable experience and I am happy to say that I will never step foot in there again.

I’m all for supporting local business but the custy dreadlocked blonde woman that works here (possibly shop owner) lacks people skills and should work as a rat catcher instead since it would suit her attitude better. She’s very cold and unwelcoming; demanded we give her the orders in a very specific way, if we didn’t comply she would look at our faces as if we were incompetent. It’s an ice cream shop, not a military camp! This place has lost my business until new management comes in or that lady takes some basic human interaction classes. World would be a better place if there were less people like her in it.

Extremely rude staff. Ice cream is store bought and old stock.
