Calgary Selects Basketball

Listen, this organization consistently focus's on high athletic skill training but also overall enjoyment of the sport. The dedication and commitment of the coaches, board and families is what sets this group apart from the other area basketball organizations. Don't hesitate to call or drop in to see what it is all about, no matter the skill level.

My oldest has played with Calgary Selects for the past few years, most recently on the Calgary Selects U17 Competitive team. The coaching is top notch and I firmly believe that the teaching and experience gained from Calgary Selects, helped him earn a spot on his Div 1 high school team; at a 2000 student high school where the competition for those 12 seats was intense. He'll be back again for the Spring 2019 season once high school ball is over.

Both my daughter and son play with the Calgary Selects and have been with the club for over a year now. It has been a very positive experience. They have both grown not only in athleticism and skill but also love for the game and team work. The Selects coaches are very attentive and supportive of all the kids and their families!

paid for my son's assessment beginning of March, no contact nor email ever since. Called many times, no answer. Emailed, no answer. I don't know what's going on with this club, at least give me my $25 back!

Both my daughters are past members of the Calgary Selects Basketball Club. A fantastic experience! Highly recommended for the coaching and life lessons gained. Go Selects!

A great organization! My two boys play for The Selects and have both had wonderful experiences. Amazing coaches who take a personal interest in their athletes have definitely helped them improve their games a ton! Highly recommend this club

Don’t get duped by the 5 star ratings - most of them are written by Selects Coaches- one by the previous president!I would score Calgary Selects a zero if I could. My daughter played with them for the first time this past spring season. She was one of two U13s willing to signup so they put them on the U15 team. Prior to signup there was no information provided regarding practice times. We were used to practices that ended by 8:30pm - this team started most practices at 8:30pm meaning a very late school night for a 12 year old. I immediately voiced my concerns and was continuously reassured there was no need to withdraw- practice times would be changing. Nothing changed. They were so disorganized that they were constantly scrambling to find practices space at the last moment.In addition, there was zero diversity on the team and apart from the other U13 girl in the team, my daughter did not feel connected. I did bring this up but it fell on deaf ears.In the end my daughter only attended the equivalent of one month with Selects. I shared all my previous communication with the new president & asked that we split the loss and they provide me with month’s reimbursement of fees. After long delays in responding to my emails, he declined my request & sent me a copy & paste of their handbook that I was completely familiar with - extremely patronizing! Nowhere in the handbook does it mention the late & disorganized practice times. Or the lack of diversity in the team.As a side note, all Selects teams were consistently on the losing end of competition.Save your child’s self esteem and your hard-earned cash! Do you your research!

My son has participated in development group and really loved playing basketball. Coaches focused on building excellent fundamental skills and helping younger players learn the game of basketball. We look forward to continued involvement with this organization.

Both my sons play for Calgary Selects. They have learned more about basketball here then in school. All the coaches and staff help develop kids. Regardless of skill level
