Way overrated. I would hate to see the worst places to live if this is constantly rated the best. The roads are bad. The people are grumpy.Stop moving here people the infrastructure is not setup for anymore people. Petty theft, and homelessness are serious issues in this city. There is garbage everywhere. The people seem like zombies. Creepy zombies. It's just an opinion, calm down.If you plan on moving here for it's reputation from the past, give your head a shake. Look elsewhere, it's just not what is advertised.Stop making roads smaller while simultaneously increasing the volume of traffic that uses them. It's dumb. People dont ride bikes here, but the lanes are everywhere. People don't ride bikes because they get stolen so much, we are also a fat people here in Guelph. Fat people don't ride bikes. More bike lanes is also dumbYou shouldn't make dumb decisions for other people they do that enough for themselves.

I was blown away with how welcoming, helpful and professional the staff at the City of Guelph are! This confirms that you should always allow for your own experiences and not go off of what others say, thank you, Staff at City of Guelph for a great visit!

In Winter times the public ice rink and lightning is just perfect.

Looks like the city is cutting the salt from the winter diet. Many main roads are left unattended with black ice and slippery. Snow plows show up 3 hours after the storms begin and still leave the road unsalted. Hope the management will improve the winter maintenance.

The only city that dropped the ball huge during the storm Friday. I drove in around 10am Woodlawn road was in poor shape then turned onto the 6 . Didn't look like they even touched it . Speedvale road poor . Even the street the hospital is on was hard to drive on. Believe it's called Delhi . Then after leaving the hospital at around 12:30 still looked like none of those roads were touched . Woodlawn was a pure skating rink . Cars sliding all over the place and hitting one another . I then drove in Kitchener Waterloo and Cambridge that same day . Those cities do a way better job of taking care of their roads and people . But now that I see all the other stuff going on in that city makes total sense. It's just poorly ran.and obviously the people in charge just don't care .

?? Gotta ask Mr. Mayor, did you subcontract the cheapest person you could find to cut down the beautiful 20 year old rose bushes growing along the Starwood Drive median, (located the entire length between Watson Pkwy N. and Grange Rd.) because today there is nothing there but 2 inches of awful looking roots! Thanks for turning a beautiful neighbourhood feature of colorful scented roses, into a ghastly eyesore! You must be aware that those roses cost a fortune in hard earned tax dollars to buy and pay city staff to plant them, and maintain them for decades... but now someone at city hall decided that instead of removing the weeds that were growing 3 feet tall, they would just clear cut the entire area, regardless of the fact that people living in that neighbourhood like to see the rose bushes in the summertime. Maybe the people you hire to manage the streets of Guelph could take some 'pride in their work' and make an effort to maintain the quality of life enjoyed by the people living in Guelph... butchering an entire street filled with mature rose bushes, just because they could not be bothered to remove the weeds is BEYOND unacceptable! No doubt, these are the same people that cut down all of the dead trees growing on the same Starwood Drive median years ago, and only bothered to replace half of them, (each median had 5 or 6 trees growing in a row, and now there are 3 or 4 trees with gaps between where trees have never been replaced, while the city gives away free trees to people living in Guelph... but it cannot be bothered to replace the city trees they cut down?) Not impressed.

My son and 2 children were almost hit at a crosswalk getting off their bus. The bus had the stop sign out and light flashing and about 5 vehicles decided AS they were in the middle of the crosswalk that they were going to zoom through almost hitting them !!! I called city hall to ask about a crossing guard or extra safety measure we can take and was a told in 2018 a complaint was made about the same stop.HOWEVER they will not take any measure to ensure our children's safety because back then when they did the report there was only 1 walking student . SOOOOOO here I am letting you know they don't care about our children.

Thanks to Bruce, Nick and Krista for trying to help us resolve the issue. It is much appreciated. We have been living in Guelph for over 25 years, and we have tried several times to apply for permits to complete our basement. Each time we didn't get the approval we were looking for, but paying the fee for the application. This year once again we applied for the necessary permits, only to find out for our meeting (an appointment we had to wait for 2 weeks just to speak withsomeone) that our earlier plans were approved but the city didn't intimate us about it.We are still waiting for the approval of course as the earlier one had lapse, due to no fault of our.I am deeply disappointed, as houses bought in our neighborhood have approvals give easily as they are submitted through the city contractors who know the city official, hence making permits being granted a cinch. Also does the city plan to reimburse us for the amount already paid?Who do we turn to to make things right?I am looking forward to a quick response. If you've had a similar experience please share you experience.Thanks.I received a response yesterday to my review, I appreciate the effort, however the response had disappeared and it had an email address that I wanted to use. Please post the email address again.Thanks.
