If I can dissuade one woman from going to the Bridges for Women program, thereby helping them to side-step the living hell that I endured there, I will be happy.It is 10 years since I attended Bridges for Women and I am still suffering with the trauma of that horrific experience. After leaving a very stressful job in 2012, my confidence was at a low point and I went to Bridges assuming that it would give me hope for the future. But the experience was soul-crushing and devastating, destroying all of my faith in human beings At that time, Victoria Pruden was the Executive Director and she wielded her power like a fist. I thought that the whole point of Bridges was to encourage women to be strong and assertive, to ask questions, and to speak up when we felt ignored, mistreated or hurt by others. After all, we were all there because our abusers never allowed us to do that. I thought that Bridges would be a place where I would learn that it was okay to express myself fully and that I did not deserve to be abused because of it.But, to my horror, Bridges staff quickly took on the role of my new abusers, led by Victoria Pruden. When I questioned anything about the program, I was shut down and silenced. When I spoke up and justifiably complained about unfair treatment and unjust policies at Bridges , I was angrily chastised and harshly punished for doing so. Victoria Pruden punished me by refusing all my requests to speak with her, writing me an abusive letter where she tried to make me feel ashamed and bad for complaining. The final slap in the face was when Victoria Pruden deliberately took away a wonderful opportunity for me to participate in a self-employment program -- just to make sure that I knew who was the boss! In the meantime, her staff gave me the silent treatment"

Bridges is absolutely wonderful. Need more of these places across Canada.
