Just returned from a trip to Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania - absolutely amazing! Loved all three countries and the unique things each country had to offer. 6- out of 5-stars!!Problem with VisaFirst, let me at the outset state I did not read the fine print and caution anyone applying for a visa to this beautiful country: the visa is active for three months from issuance!! I admit I did not read or see this warning.Above said, we (four of us in our family) got to Entebbe Airport for a flight to Nairobi on August 23. Two of us cleared security before the agent realized our visas had expired. The four visas were issued on or around May 9, and the proposed date of entry stated ON THE VISA was August 23, outside of the three month period of validity. I want to reiterate that it stated the two dates very clearly at the top of the visa: May 9 and August 23 (this means the visas expired on or around August 9).I called the High Commission in Ottawa from Entebbe, and I have never spoken with a woman more uncaring or unhelpful. Her stock-in-trade response to my predicament was that it was my fault, there was nothing she would/could do, and I would have to re-apply for visas and wait for them for two to four days to be processed.The silver lining herein is that the security official at Entebbe Airport understood and recognized that Kenyan authorities had, either willfully or accidentally, not figured out that May 9 to August 23 is longer than three months. He felt that someone on the issuing end had dropped the ball, should have been able to figure out that the issuing date and proposed date of travel were outside of the three month allowance, and rejected our applications. We would then have had ample time time to re-submit the applications prior to our departure date, which would then have been within the three-month validity period.The security official spent the better part of two hours (thank goodness we got to the airport well in advance of our flight) speaking with various officials while still checking other passengers' documents, and we were then allowed to depart for Nairobi. Someone had the insight to recognize that there was a glaring error on the visa itself that negated the validity of the visa, clearly and unequivocally a fault of the issuing agency.The operator in Ottawa with whom I spoke abrogated her responsibility and in effect left us stranded in Entebbe with an issue we had to sort out ourselves.The Kenyan issuing authorities should look a bit more closely and take a bit more responsibility to insure visitors' visa applications are correctly completed rather than just rubber-stamping" the applications. It is with a heavy heart that I must give a very low review to my fellow Kenyan high commission employees..or rather one of them..last Tuesday the office of the Kenyan commission were in Toronto conducting all nessesary high commission duties..and this is were I dealt with an officer whom I later found out was named martin murithi if am not mistaken...maybe it's me me but this officer took a long time to process what I thought was an easy task while blaming the computer and internet connection and I believe he was insinuating for some form of a bribe .Am really saddened by this..i know in Kenya hio tkk is the norm in most places but by God you import it here ..shame..bure kabisa..

I had an awesome experience, very fast and everyone is very courteous. It is also a very calm office, Monica Kiruja Wangai communicates effectively and very proper both through emails and in person. She was able to change my appointment date to what worked for me. As a kenyan who was seeking services for the first time in Ottawa, I was impressed by the reception, kindness and services offered to me.

I felt compelled to write this review because when I was looking for reviews there were not many and of the ones that were there - the reviews were not positive. I was hesitant to send my passport in for an EA visa. I called the office weeks in advance and spoke to several amazing staff who always answered my questions. I found the staff, courteous, kind and knowledgeable. I sent my passport via express post from Alberta on Tuesday- it arrived to Ottawa on Thursday and it was processed in Ottawa on Friday was back in my hands the following Tuesday. They took one day to process!!!I was impressed by the service, and the attention to detail. My experience with the Visa department at the Kenyan High Commission has been nothing but five star service.

This my personal experience with the Kenyan high commissioner in Ottawa Canada. Great work l had called twice and left message but all was returned to me before the end of the day addressing my concerns about evisa.
