Formerly a staple of Harbord Street for decades, then the people who own the mediocre Indian place next door bought it. Ever since it's been an oily, overpriced disaster. It's sad to see what used to be one of my favorite local take-out places get ruined by people who seemingly have zero ability to fry fish. Since the previous owners left they've massively increased the price and the quality has gone way down. Their fries are okay, but that is it.I see they're now trying to expand their menu to other items (I think the board said soups and fried chicken). Given the quality of the fish, I am not remotely brave enough to risk that level of food poisoning.

I didn't know about this place, I found it by accident when I was walking by. The invitation" for me was the smell and the people sitting on the patio having fish and chips and it looked great. I didn't wait long

Great affordable lunch spot!Enjoyed their lunch special. Was able to split fish and chips with my partner and we both left feeling satisfied. Can't wait for more summer day lunches at their picnic tables!

Showed up in a hurry food was handmade in front of me we ordered two pieces of fish and fries for 4 I'm a big man and my kids are teenagers me and my wife still have a piece of fish each for lunch. John the owner is a wonderful person friendly and kind. The cod and halibut we're excellent even after driving 20 minutes home to serve it.Thanks John we will be back for sure when the weather's better and we can eat there.

So incredibly and deeply mid. I did get takeout but I don’t live far (4 min walk). The fries tasted good but had the texture of rocks. And the fish was alright, felt fresh at least.

3/5 Might return.Was worried about all the reviews saying the quality has dropped with a change in owners/management.Fortunately the fish batter is still very crisp, the fries are tasty and fried well and fish itself moist and not dry. Overall the food is good and fresh.However they need- smaller boxes so the contents don't bounce around. My fish became fish fingers.- make their own tartar. At $30 you can't use cheap packets.- be more generous with coleslaw. It's literally cabbage and costs nothing.

I have no idea how they felt this was in any way appropriate to serve but unfortunately they did. Severly over cooked to the point it's not edible. This is very diaspointing and 100% won't be going back. Disgusting it taste like burnt cardboard, It's embarrassing they would not take the ten minutes to make a new one. Vile.

A cool little old school mom and pop fish & chips joint in the middle of the block.I ate there for the first time yesterday, as a friend had said that their fish and chips were pretty good. I had their poutine as I was not that hungry at the time and just felt like a light lunch.The dude who served me was friendly with a smile. I expected the poutine to maybe be served in an old school box or something - as it was presented in one of those round black Chinese food take out" containers with a clear lid.No matter - the poutine was really good and I can recommend it for the price. I would defiantly go back for it again. Next time I may go for the halibut fish & chips.No photos were snapped of my poutine as I just wanted to dive in lol."

The boyfriend used to go here all the time in high school, my first time today. The halibut was amazing! Couldn't finish one fish so we saved that for later, the server was very generous with the chips and I love all coleslaw. The coleslaw is minced veggies but I still enjoyed it. Personally I liked mixing the hot sauce tartar sauce vs the boyfriend likes his ketchup and tartar.
