Ashlie's Books
An excellent little book store! Everything is reasonably priced, the staff is kind and helpful. Also thy have a much larger selection than you may expect. One of the only bookstores near Bancroft and it serves the town and the area around it very well!

Ashlie's Books
Great store run by a nice man. Disregard that dramatic 1 star review. I've never encountered any offensive right wing type of stuff there. Oversensitive nonsense. This is a nice place

Ashlie's Books
Warning - the first thing I saw walking into this place was a stack of right-wing “publications”, low enough for my ten year old to read. I believe in free speech, but not uneducated lunacy and conspiracy ramblings masked as news. We would have probably spent some money here (the street was empty on a beautiful Saturday in July, a real shame), but seeing that kind of nonsense at the front the door meant my visa was tucked away for another store where medieval ideas are firmly displayed in the “history” section or “fantasy” section. I’m shocked that someone running a book store would actually be willing to display that lunacy as the first thing you see when you open the door. At least put it under “politics” or something if your goal is to allow all sorts of views. Given that this hack paper on display is dangerous and shares sentiment with right-wing hate speech, it’s terrible that it’s so clearly supported. If as a consumer you’re ok with this, then otherwise the shop seemed quaint and well-stocked, though the person didn’t even say hello to me and my family. Maybe we looked too “liberal”. We will be spending our money and time somewhere else this summer. Hopefully the next time we come down through Bancroft this shop has dropped the political hack job at the front door.

Ashlie's Books
Ashlie's books had a completely amazing selection - a lot of really fantastic contemporary fiction, some great small press queer books and an impressively large YA section. I go to a lot of second hand and smaller indie and local book stores and Ashlie's was one of the best I've been to in a while, they definitely have something for everyone. I picked up a book of short stories and had a great time browsing, loved the layout and flow. While I was there the person behind the counter was having a great talk with a young kid about their book choices and it was so nice to see! if I lived here I'd be so happy to make this a regular stop.

Ashlie's Books
My kids and I visit whenever we can. The gentleman behind the counter is very knowledgeable and can order in anything they may not have. Personalized service you just can't find at other bookstores. Highly recommended. I always buy a gift certificate for each of my kids at Christmas and they look forward to it every year.

The kid ran out of books half way through our cottage week, so checked this place out. Nice variety of books for a small town.

Ashlie's Books
As a grandchild of a cottage owner up near Bancroft and an avid reader, I have always appreciated such a well-maintained, homey bookstore in the heart of the town of Bancroft. Many of my early childhood memories have involved summerly pit-stops into the town of Bancroft to visit Ashlie's Books, which I have always enjoyed and looked forward to. Not only a regular bookstore, but a used-and-new-books bookstore, Ashlie's is the perfect place for anyone needing a new or second-hand book whilst up at the cottage. The staff are exceptional, friendly and polite. The books are well organized and the variety of selection is fantastic! For example, my sister and I found a few novels from a book series that are extremely unpopular and underrated, and we were thrilled to find them on the bookshelves in Ashlie’s. From maps to fantasy to non-fiction to children's books, Ashlie's has it all. Surprisingly and most impressive, even the used copies of books are in excellent condition, and all books come with discounts (the used books have more of a discount, but even new books come with a discount, which is greatly appreciated for book readers who like to indulge every time they step into a bookstore!). Overall, Ashlie's is a beautiful little bookstore, quiet and homey. Definitely recommend if you're making a stop in the Bancroft area!
