Comic King

Awful experience. The store is a complete mess and it's very hard to move around there. Super cramped. I didn't receive much help in finding books from who I assume is the owner who seemed kind of annoyed I was asking him a question. The owner and the other dude he was working with were saying some really gross comments about some of the female characters in the books they were dealing with. On top of that, I overheard one of them refer to a pride month issue as a groomer issue". I was ready to spend money on books from there

James is an awesome person and really knows his stuff when it comes to comics. Please stop in and visit, you will probably find something you like, and you will get a great deal in the meantime.

Good range of current and back issues of comics to view. You have to be careful to inspect them as sometimes grading doesn't match price

I first set foot into Comic King in 1991 before they expanded" the shop. I used to buy cards so much that when the owner Taylor would see me buy comics he or his wife would make a note of it. I spend so much money on cards and other things at this store through out the 1990's. I always loved every friday during my youth as I would get to spend my allowance there. Spent my birthday money there from age 12 to 17. This store is great. Though I live in Calgary now as a old adult

Great staff and a massive selection of new and used comics. Helped us out with some age appropriate comics for my daughters and got them onto ones I didn't even think of. Plus a great deal of 40% off graphic novels. On top of that if you talk to the staff and they don't have it they can order it in.Awesome place to go if you enjoy comics or want to get into some of them.

After 25+ years I went to this store 3 times in a month. Bought a few low cost comics from the bins - not really in good shape but that’s what I would expect.Looked at a comic on the wall. $60. I asked staff if I could look at it. He gets it down. I ask him if it’s in decent shape and he mumbles something like looks okay. The edges look ok. I swear - less than 3 seconds later, so is this a “yay or a nay?” There is one other person in the store. I get the sense he is rushing me and I’m not sure why. So I buy the comic.Get home, take it out of the plastic, and significant damage to the cover that wasn’t readily visible until it was out of the plastic. Not sure if it’s water damage but it’s almost crusty.Suddenly I understand why he was rushing me. And I understand $60 is not a high end comic, but same comic on eBay is closer to $50 including shipping.I want to support local shops. But not if you’re actively trying to rip off the customer to make a quick sale.I 100% think he knew the condition of the comic, didn’t want to tell me and wanted to rush me into a decision to avoid seeing the issue.For that reason I feel misled. I won’t be returning to this store for quite a while. I would hate to buy one of their “featured” or wall comics that is similarly conditioned.

Honestly went there with my brother. We are in the community. The guy working was a total a hole. The way he dealt with my brother was sad! They have like no selection of keys. Not good people at all. We will never be going to that store again. His comics are over priced and they don't move! He doesn't believe in gradeing and just makes up his own prices ! Thats fine he cost himself 5 to 10k a year from us minimum. Plus il be telling all my friends! Worst store in Edmonton hands down.

Been coming here since I was a kid. Never been disappointed. Always a great selection with helpful and friendly staff
