Sorry, not a fan of the chaos. i.e. pick up drop off: 20+ school busses is normal, no parking is common, even if you find a spot to park, walk carefully because drivers/parents are not careful enough or they ignore rules (or claim ignorance). I saw near misses regularly. I saw 1 actual hit and run (vehicle damage, no people hurt) but couldn't do anything as I had my child with me. There is inconsistent communication: rules enforced at times and not enforced sometimes. This is esp true for parents or guardians. I.e. take off your shoes at the door in winter, unless you are a parent - then its optional and the ones who comply step in the resulting puddles and up with wet socks (I questioned why I was teaching my child to follow the rules), maxed out classrooms, teachers without enough time to properly balance time between those that speak Mandarin as a 1st language and those that do not (there is an obvious unfair advantage), lastly but probably most importantly if your child is not average or preferably above intelligence and average or above average obedient then good luck: there is no time or extra attention. It's looked at a home issue to resolve so figure it out because no one else has this problem". I expected more from our school system. The CBE is poorly managed. This school suffers from lack of adequate support staff

The principal is very hands on and caring. All of the staff take the time to chat with the kids in the morning and the office staff are friendly, helpful, and accommodating.The mandarin program is amazing but I'd say the only thing lacking is non-mandarin speaking support for parents. Its confusing to try and learn what the characters mean or how to say it.Google classroom is utilized along with a reading app. Lots of fun activities for the kids with the parent school council and you can really tell that the principal and vice principal really care and take the time outside of their regular day to ensure the kids are getting all opportunities and resources.

Much appreciate this CBE school providing Chinese learning programs. This September will be my kid's grade 4. We enjoy the educational opportunities, bilingual language exposures, Chinese culture environments, and making friends with friendly people who also love it.I see some comments sharing the frustrations regarding school bus transportation or non-Mandarin-speaking families. I feel sorry about that. Hundreds of children are sent to Highwood School and Colonel Irvine School nearby, both within the old quiet inner city neighbourhood of Highwood during the rush hour every day. It never and won't be easy, but from a parent's perspective, I see the Highwood School staff and teachers are continuously improving it. For example, there is staff with safety vests to assist the traffic control regardless of the weather conditions. I would like to say Thank You to these heroes.

Great school for parents who want their kids to learn Chinese. Needs some more installments though.
