was here once before and not what I was expecting at all from what I could see from outside , was expecting a more casual sports bar type place . but instead its like this really fancy higher end restaurant which one might normally find in Toronto . that being said staff was very nice and helpful and food was good . would I go there again honestly not really sure its for me

Went to the grand re-opening of their restaurant and it was incredible! Great food and awesome atmosphere, definitely recommended.

Went to Houston's on a Tuesday for a birthday/graduation celebration dinner, and we were very displeased. A table of 9 sent back 4 dishes, for varying reasons including poor taste and VERY cold food. Were informed that their promotional menu (advertising their wings and their flatbreads) was useless - as they were out of wings on their wing night, and they didn't have flatbreads either. Service was SLOW - granted they were not empty and our server was courteous but he had his hands full with our table. He handled it well and that's why it's not a one star review.Recommend trying somewhere else, and if it's Tuesday (wing night), call ahead and make sure they have wings.

We have been there several times and had nothing but a great bunch of experiences. An error was made in our steaks (mixed up which person had the steaks done med. etc.), and they immediately rectified it, no hassle to me. We'll be returning with friends Thursday night. It's so great to have a reliable restaurant to take friends and clients to! Thanks Houston's for great experiences.

Houston's seems to be closed down. There is a sign posted that says closed for maintenance but there has been no 'maintenance' action in weeks that I've noticed.

Very disappointed..I took my husband out for his birthday and while his medium-well steak was 'fine' (not great mind you), my medium-rare steak was extremely overdone, charred black on the outside to be honest. I could not believe they served it to me. Just looking at it I knew it was not right. And cutting into it I saw the barest pink in the centre.I sent it back, and they took my whole plate while I waited over 20 minutes for a new one. When I asked, about 10 minutes in, what the hold up was and noted there were only 5 tables, it was not like the kitchen was backed up, I got a surprised and 'hurt' reaction like I was behaving irrationally by sending it back in the first place. So, I continued to wait and watched my husband finish his steak and have his plate cleared before I got mine back.When mine finally arrived I was in no mood to eat and barely got 1/3 of the meal into me before I gave up and boxed it up. Hubby took it for lunch.I was so disappointed because we had been once before and had been SO happy with the experience. Now, I doubt I will ever go there again.

Waited over 20 mins just for drinks.Waitress was exceptionally rude and clearly did not know how to do her job, was the worst waiting service I have ever had.I get better service through a drive thru.Food was lacking amount for the price. I sent my over cooked, extremely fatty ribs that needed to be chiseled off the bone, with a steak knife, back to the kitchen. The second rack was fattier and smothered in what tasted like plain bbq sauce.Awful experience, over 2 hours later my bf and I left feeling cheated, ripped off, hungry, like we wasted our time and robbed over $85.00.

I would not recommend this restaurant at all. The only thing they got going is how the restaurant appears visually. I am a first year college student living in barrie and I went out to lunch one day alone to Houston Avenue Bar and Grill and I ended up standing waiting for 5 minutes for service. When a young man came to seat me, with out even asking how I was or where I would like to be seated, he put me at the far end away from site of any of the other guests. I am a very well mannered, polite young lady and he had me sitting at my table for 10 minutes without even ordering me a drink. When he eventually came I ordered a soda and after 5 minutes it had still not came I got up and left. I am in a business program and shared this experience with my customer service class and it was agreed upon that I was shown Very VERY bad customer Service. This is not acceptable and I have told people of my experience and they have shared that they have had a similar experience at the same place. In my opinion the only customers this restaurant cares for are high class business people. All I have to say is that the owner should be ashamed. I didn't even get a chance to try their food but I am sure it is no better than their service. If I could I would only give this restaurant a half star rating. And f*** ever going there again!!!!!!

Just had lunch and it was simply wonderful. We asked the waitress if they could make us a special salad with Salmon and they did, not a problem. Very friendly staff, I most definately will be going back and recommend this restaurant!!
