I’ve been to this little restaurant a few times and I’ve yet to be even remotely dissatisfied. The portions are large, enormous if you get an omelet, piping hot and always served with a big smile. They make you feel at home and so welcome, even better the coffee is out of this world.This is a must go to if you’re looking for some delicious, satisfying food that’s worth the $$, it’s not crazy amounts either.ENJOY!!

The environment has a cozy diner feel to it.Service is genuinely friendly and attentive.The food very high quality. Don't even worry about prices.The first time you dine, you'll see what I mean.The level of star rating is due to a couple of minor details.The tables and seating is kept fairly clean. Common items such as salt & pepper shakers should be sanitized regularly.The communication overall needs a little attention. On two separate occasions, food was missing or cooked differently than requested. ie: order basted egg and over hard is delivered.This isn't the norm. Merely time to time, don't be surprised or disappointed.Great food and place to dine overall

The food is to die for, delicious aroma and even better tasting! We all enjoyed different dishes. The service was impeccable, friendly, quick and most important accurate and well timed delivery to the table! This is a must stop on your visit to town or even better a regular stop during your day. Oh my gosh, I'm so glad I got to have breakfast at Shades!The coffee was exactly what you'd expect from a well known diner. It was perfect. I had the huevos rancheros and they were excellent. The refried beans were so tasty!My partner had the French toast and the slices were almost 2 inches thick! He said they were so good, but could have used more syrup. The server was really busy, and wasn't able to get him more syrup (or refill my coffee). That was the only downside, but like many other places, being short-staffed and super busy certainly wasn't her fault.I will definitely make a stop in again if I travel through Penticton!

Shades on Main Restaurant
By far one of the worst Monte Cristo sandwiches I've ever eaten. Had ppl rave about the Monte Cristo sandwich at this place , do we decided to give it a try. Well the bread was plain, thin and sandwich lacked flavor and was cold. Won't be going back.
