Super cute and delicious spot! Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about all things sake and I loved the ramen and small dishes I ordered. It’s great for a group but also really good solo. Highly recommend!

We could have been in Tokyo in one of those small drinking places in the underground subway. The service was genuine Japanese, with a Japanese Sake expert that used to make Sake in Japan, and over 30 different kinds of sake. We hadn't intended to drink initially, I was attracted to the online food menu. We ordered Okra with tofu sauce, chicken karaage, oden, monk fish karaage, and BBQ yellowtail collar. All the food was excellent, the hamachi collar was gigantic. I did not detect garlic in the chicken karaage. The monk fish was delicious. Halfway through the meal, it was apparent that we had ordered items that were best consumed with sake. But how does one choose a sake among 30 without spending a huge amount of time reading in semi darkness about each item? Our server solved the problem by letting us try three kinds of sake. They were all very good. All of the sake on offer can be ordered in different sizes without having to take the whole bottle. When the sommelier visited again, I settled with a Junmai Ginjo that has a gentle banana taste, with the refreshing hint of a green apple. Well, it turned out that I didn't order the food I came for – their online menu was way better than their print menu. What we liked: a very interesting variety food and sake, great service, Japanese drinking house ambience. Needless to say, sake drinking generates quite a bit of loud conversation and laughing by the patrons. Next time, I must remember to refer to the pictures in their online menu and be sure to try some other items like broccoli, Aburi Shime Saba, or Harb Saba, and even Wagyu don. Oh, reservation is definitely recommended. We almost didn't get a table as most of their other patrons showed up with a reservation.

I usually never really write reviews but I'm writing one because I had the worst experience.. I was excited because I have been to other restaurants that are Zakkushi brand and I love the Japanese izakaya restaurants but this was literally the worst. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.AAA Beef Tataki was not triple A beef. It did not have any sauce, it was literally just raw beef and little bit cooked on the outside.. I had to spit it out because I could taste the blood and it was not fresh. I love beef tataki and sometimes I make it at home and cost-co meat is better than this.Sashimi was not fresh at all and they tasted a bit old and dry. (we had another plate of bluefin tuna that was like $22, the texture was dry and not fresh at all.)SHIORAKA- It was extremely salty and tasted very fishy with ocean smell. I do enjoy eating ika (raw squid) but this was ..terrible. Also the menu didn't specify it was raw squid. (I asked the waitress if it was possible to exchange with something else because we cannot eat it, and we didn't know it was raw. She took it back to the kitchen and came back to us saying but you guys ate it right?" and put it back to the table

Curious I popped in to discover a new gem within the city. A place where you can feel the enthusiasm of the craft. My server was very knowledgeable about Sake and happy to explain the story of each bottle and their personal recommendations. I felt at ease and relaxed. The food itself you can taste the enthusiasm from the chef's joy of what they do combining great flavours to something a little different and tastes so great. It brought me back to being in Japan. I highly recommend this place.

Food is really fairly cheap and good portion compared to other izakaya places in Vancouver. Also has a variety of different sake to choose from. The staff is really friendly and explains the sake before serving. We ordered the ankimo (monkfish liver), ryukyu (sashimi salad?), doteni (braised beef tongue), ikameshi (rice-stuffed squid), and una cha (eel fried rice). My favorite was the ankimo and doteni. I found the rice in the rice dishes to be slightly sticky (similar to when you cook rice with too much water).Overall, a great recommendation for peole looking for a new izakaya place to try!

The atmosphere is great. There are some special dishes we never had before and it is interesting to try them in this restaurant. It is a little bit pricy for the stuff we got, but I believe it is worth it.

Love the food and service here , exceed my expectations. We ordered most of the stuff from the happy hour menu and the weekly special menu . Everything was tasty. We walked in around 530 without any reservation. The place was not busy at that time but an hour later was almost full. Whole book of sake selections , we are not sake drinkers, but we ordered the 4 once sake flight for $35 as the waitress Miki explained those are expensive sake and even hard to find in Japan. There were only 2 servers on the floor, but they were very efficient . The drinks might take a bit longer, but we didn't need to wait for long. Miki is amazing

The food was simply delicious - I especially loved the chicken ramen. But what made this experience truly stand out was the incredible service. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. The entire staff seemed genuinely happy to be there and eager to make our meal memorable.I can't recommend this restaurant enough - the food and service were both exceptional. If you're looking for a great Japanese dining experience, this is the place to go!
