I first fished Canadian Carpin with Paul Hunt in 2000 when it was a fairly new operation, soon returning in 2004. Both trips were an amazing success with lots of fish caught. When it comes to the St. Lawrence, nobody knows this river better than Paul, and his enthusiasm is truly infectious and is guaranteed to make your trip one of the best ever. If you are bored with the usual France trip and looking for a change then this is for you, and the fish!!! Some of the hardest fighting carp pound for pound you will find anywhere in the universe!!Just get it booked!!Dave Cornes ✌️

He had my money for a deposit for a holiday in cash and I got nothing for it , no holiday, no reply. He even blocked me on Facebook so I couldn't contact him.Still not happy. After two years .Hope the Canadian tax man catches up with him .4th December 2020As soon as I got back in the uk 2017 .$1600 in cash .I asked you for the deposit back. Then you pointed out about it being none refundable. So far as I am concerned I paid for a service you didn't serply.. that's Freud in my book .Mr Paul Hunt .As for my ex girlfriend that you say cancelled the holiday. She did not and that makes you a liar as well as a thief.

Paul is a fantastic guide and Lisa a fantastic chef. This is the second time I have been and hopefully won't be my last. Today 30th May 2017 between 2 of us we had 67 carp with approx 40 over 20lb and 2 at 31lb and 1 huge mirrow carp. Where else can you get these sort of catch rates. I am one exhausted but but happy chappie

Shockingly POOR experience.OK for BEGINNERS,VERY BAD FOR PROPER CARP ANGLER.We are a group of 4 ,(aged 57 to 68),and were much looking forward to a weeks holiday fishing on the vast & beautiful St.Laurence River with Canadian Carpin Holidays with the “guide” Mr Paul Hunt and his wife Lisa Hunt.2 of our group are time served anglers who have fished for wild carp on many U.K. rivers and many of the hard European inland seas for in excess of 30 years, the other 2 are less experienced but still time served with PB carp well over the 50 lbs barrier. After the flight we were greeted by Lisa Hunt. Throughout our stay she was anincredible hostess, servings lovely evening meals & making up more than adequate lunches for when we were “fishing”…we cannot fault Lisa in any manner. We arrived at River Rock, the home of Paul & Lisa and our accommodation for the week. The place is spotlessly clean, well appointed and very comfortable with good facilities.Paul greeted our group and was very polite and friendly and seemed like a decent enough chap.He was very disappointed that we didn’t drink alcohol and it had brought our own end tackle. The website stated that ALL ANGLERS would have 2 rods each. Paul said that we would be in two teams?… using 3 rods between 2 anglers.Only one and a half rods each? Why?We met with Paul at the agreed 5 am for our 1st day on the St Laurence. A 15 minute drive & we arrived. It was a spot downstream of a huge hydroelectric dam. A typically good area of a river to fish but a very industrial, 100’s of pylons, a museum and a large building site. Not scenic, relaxing or what you expect.Paul provided each team with a bucket of ‘pack’ bait & some maize. BUT BE AWARE THIS COSTS AN EXTRA $C120 PER ANGLER!We caught carp from the start and between us had 18 or so in 12 hours. Stupid simple fishing, moulding the pack bait on the lead, lob it out & catch, no brain fishing, it does work but it is tedious & extraordinary boring. Another issue is the very steep and rocky slope down to the river, dangerous & care is needed. At 5pm we towed our equipment back to the pick up area.We were met by Paul & asked how the fishing had been.He was taken aback when he received the very honest reply that it had been SH*T.To our group,(fishing),is a lot more than chucking out a lead on a piece of 65 plus lbs braid and hoiking out a fish in a semi industrial area.Paul obviously took this slight criticism personally! On the journey back we passed some beautiful areas that would have been lovely to fish.Day 2 was an exact repeat of day one, dropped at the dam and picked up at 5, lobbed out 30 yards, caught carp.EXCEPT on the journey back Mr Paul Hunt absolutely erupted.Screaming & yelling he accused us of disrespecting his ability to be a good guide despite his 20 odd years of experience,..it was absolutely unbelievable! He totally lost the plot, contradicting himself many times, arguing with himself at times. Despite what was explained to him he would not listen….it was his way or no way! He acted like a spoiled brat rather than a professional river guide.HE EVEN THREATENED TO TAKE US ALL TO SWIMS WHERE HE WOULD GUARANTEE THAT WE WOULD BLANK.From then he totally blanked us. He refused to talk at all or even have dinner with us. Very childish really. Our group fished only 4 days because he didn’t give us the option of going to a different location.POOR, POOR,POOROn our 1st night he boasted that the St Laurence is 700 miles long, 3 miles wide in places. We were dumped in the very same public spot for 4 days! Shocking & very LAZY! We met Canadian anglers who couldn’t understand why our “guide” would leave us there. If you are a NOVICE & want to get drunk, spend a fortune in the bar & on tackle then I am sure you will be welcomed with open arm, but REMEMBER it will cost you a small fortune on top of what you have already paid.If you have anything about you and have any real experience about carp fishing then we definitely CANNOT RECOMMEND.
