I did have an issue previously with cancellation however turns out it was a miscommunication. The problem was solved and I had a really good intake with Sherise Miller she is very warm and friendly and made me feel at ease though out the whole session.

(Former patient/customer of 3+ years)This was the first psychologist I have been to so far in my life and I really liked the psychologist I had but also felt at times that I wasn't getting much actual help/therapy vs. me just talking about my life lately as some of the other reviews have stated. However, I wanted to stay committed to the process as I did see some benefits at times before along the way. That came to an end a few months ago in 2022 when they changed the cost per session from $180/50 mins to $220+/50 mins where they gave me zero notice this pricing change was coming. I reached out to Shift asking if there was a way to meet in the middle in terms of price since I understand inflation takes a toll and things get more expensive every year but also I don't have benefit coverage (enough benefits to cover 2 sessions/year) and that's a tremendous cost uptick suddenly for me. I had even done my homework and referenced to them that the Psychologists Association of Alberta 2022 recommended fee was $200/session-- but they were unwilling to budge or talk price. It's funny they mention 'sliding price' in their policy but when I asked to talk about the price here they gave nothing to a customer that had proven loyalty of 3+ years of going there. Ironically, suddenly having to pay significantly more for these sessions where I felt I wasn't getting the bang for buck as it was caused me even more stress for the therapy for stress I was trying to get treatment from them for, haha. It was the last straw for me and I have since left. Icing on the cake, upon leaving I asked for referral notes- never got anything there either... Sooooo starting clean slate elsewhere.TL;DR:They are a business at the end of the day, sadly. They seem similar to physiotherapy/chiropractors in saying: Sure we can fix that back for you- you just need to come back for 384 more sessions"--Money talks.I'll be moving on to someone hopefully a bit more focused on the actual goal of helping people in a timely manner and for a fair price."

Money grab. They don’t offer couples counselling. They said same issues can be solved on an individual basis... I don’t think so

I have to say I am disappointed in my experience here. Firstly, the initial consultation was pretty useless. I was told the specialists here had experience assisting with ADHD, which I was then told in my first session was false.I continued anyway. Their session style is incredibly odd, and if you can critically think about past events at all, you don't need their help. They ask you to think about past memories and just sit with it" - this is a completely useless approach for anyone with anxiety or any ability to think critically. My therapist also randomly quit one day with no notice

Very high priced for what you get. In the 6 sessions I did, all the talking was on my end and I got very little back. If I just wanted someone to listen to me talk with no input, I could talk to the wall for a lot cheaper. I stopped returning after the 6 sessions which was about 3 months ago and to this day they haven't reached out to me in any way. I guess the feeling that they don't care was accurate.

Very nice and modern office, with excellent staff and Psychologists. Great location, with lots of parking either on the street or in the underground parking lot. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Shift has excellent customer service, they are receptive to feedback, and they take an innovative approach to therapy. The bilateral stimulations may be too intense for some people, depending on where you’re at and especially if you have a history of trauma. I personally found the therapy became overwhelming. Although I did not continue at Shift and would advice caution for those who are struggling with significant childhood trauma, I ended up providing feedback to Shift, and Shift’s response to my concerns were above and beyond; it’s clear they have taken my feedback into consideration and that they really do value their clients. If you’re feeling stuck, Shift could be your answer!

I did several online sessions with a ShiftGrit psychologist and it was a waste of time and money. I don't know if they didn't have enough experience but it sure felt like that. I never got anything back from them. All they did was listen to me talk and never asked probing or insightful questions. At one point I told them that I didn't think I was getting a lot out of the sessions, and they challenged me and told me that I was, and that I was processing things just by talking about them. They actually said that. I've been to therapy before and it was MUCH more helpful and useful than just me doing all the talking. Good therapy is listening but also responding appropriately. I know it takes a few sessions for a therapist to understand what is going on but ultimately these sessions ending up going nowhere.

Thank you Shift for listening and helping. I have to say I have never been so excited to heal. You folks are fantastic! Working with Sarah, Sherise and the whole team has been a true pleasure. Looking forward to many more sessions.
