Watching what is happening to those poor folks in Langley not having their building, restored and driving by it not seeing any workers doing anything to restore their loss. Knowing they have no home to live and have been forced to make payments past the date of expectation is appalling. The completion date was supposed to be March from what I just saw on the news and they were told it’s pushed back due to the size of the building being part of the problem.?! That is insane to respond that way, and to say that it’s a supply and demand issue is understandable to some extent, but this goes beyond acceptable!I have two buildings and will make sure to never use Canstar and will make our management companies aware that we don’t want your company under any circumstances! I’m actually really disgusted right now seeing what I did. I’ve lost a building in a fire ( not this one) and understand the process well enough to see that you were not prioritizing them because you can make more money by prioritizing others first.

Canstar's content team is fantastic. They get five stars, but management is terrible. I heard they had a new management, so I'm hoping things will improve.

This is a joke of a company. The lack of follow through and accountability is embarrassing. I own a unit in the Madison, which caught fire in July 2020. They bid on the project and unfortunately were awarded the job. In their original bid, they were quoting completing the project in February 2021. It is now Jan 2023, and they now have delayed the project yet again and are *hoping* it'll be complete by November 2023. If the original timeline was meant to be 10 months, why would they need an 11 months from Jan 2023? What have they been doing for the past 2.5 years that they need this much longer? They cite that the project was more complex due to the size of the building which caused delay. This should've been taken into account when the bid was created. They should not have started on a project if it was too large for them to competently follow through on.

They send me an invoice for $1442 for an electrician to remove only 11 spotlights which took him 15 minutes to do so in total! This company is a rip-off and does whatever it takes to milk you.My honest advice is never to try them at all, you will regret it.

Absolutely atrocious. Terrible at communication and scheduling. Took an entire week to install a new counter and sink which wouldn't be so bad if the work wasn't so sloppy and if they had bothered to properly hook up the dishwasher again. Absolutely avoid.

EDIT: Owner replies blaming it on COVID, yet when I e-mailed to the email they specified more than a week ago, I STILL don't get an answer from them. We're way past the pandemic. Something is definitely wrong with the company's communication and operations.Unfortunately our building had a terrible experience with canstar.- Slow to reply to emails, sometimes several emails before response. sometimes no response.- completion dates keep moving every few months (over 2 years and condo is still being repaired)- lack of communication to contractors and owners. Contractors keep walking into our occupied unit.- task completed isn't accurate. Some units were said to have 80% completed in repairs but was missing almost half of the work that still needs to be done.-contractors hired seems to rush through the work (but maybe that's just contractors in general these days due to high work loads / demand).Hopefully your experience will be better. Perhaps they don't do well with major restoration on a low rise (42 unit) building. Otherwise, try another restoration company first.

Extremely Disappointed: A Terrible Experience with CanstarI recently had a water damage issue in my unit, and the strata management called in Canstar Restorations to handle the repairs. Initially, I was impressed when the first technician arrived. He seemed knowledgeable and proactive. However, my experience quickly took a turn for the worse. The subsequent technicians sent by Canstar Restorations seemed more interested in killing time than actually addressing the problem. All they did was measure humidity and wetness, without taking any tangible steps towards resolving the issue. It took them weeks before they finally removed the drywall, which only added to my frustration. It has now been three long weeks since the drywall was removed, and despite my consistent efforts to reach out, I have received no response from Canstar Restorations. I've left numerous voice messages, and each time, they promised to get back to me by Monday. But it has been a continuous cycle of broken promises and utter disappointment. To make matters worse, whenever I call their mainline and inquire about the status of the repairs in my unit, they have absolutely no notes or updates. It's as if they have chosen to ignore the severity of the damage and the urgency of the situation. This level of disregard for a serious issue in my bedroom is beyond comprehension. Not only have they failed to send a plumber to identify and address the water leak, but my damaged floors have also not been properly attended to. This neglect of an emergency situation and the lack of customer service is simply unacceptable.I cannot stress enough how disappointed and shocked I am by Canstar Restorations' complete lack of follow-up and professionalism. Their service has been nothing short of terrible. I urge anyone reading this review to steer clear of Canstar Restorations. They clearly do not understand the meaning of the word emergency" or the importance of providing quality customer service. Save yourself the frustration and seek assistance elsewhere."

My mother in laws place is still be worked on after a Dec 24th water damage situation in her condo. Today it's April 5th and they show up sporadically. The painter has no idea how to paint obviously because they can't figure out how to eliminate the shadowing on the ceiling which is caused by not using enough paint while painting.

I cannot speak highly enough of canstar! My place had a sudden leak which meant my floors needed replacing … this happen 1 month before my parents were due to arrive from Scotland! Canstar managed to complete the entire work 1 week BEFORE my parents arrived…. Special thank you to Nathan, Sheldon and the manager Matt who made this all this possible!!! Matt’s team went above and beyond and I truly appreciate it - I will always be using and referring canstar… they have a customer for life!!!

Worst restoration company ever. Completely botched our ceiling repair (from a leak)and had to be entirely re- done (we organized this ourselves). A complete nightmare and ++ stress from start to finish. Never use these people to restore your home after a flood!
