Ahimsa is an amazing yoga studio that focuses both on the philosophy and the movement practice of yoga. Going there is like a spa day for the body/mind - would highly recommend! I loved it so much I did their teacher training program and it changed my life :)

I’ve been to behot yoga, Kula Annex, moksha (now modo yoga) and this is my favourite studio. The place is clean and with a very nice vibe. You can easily book classes on line or drop in. They have $8 classes early in the morning and noon. The most important thing to me is the consistency in the levels, all teachers are great and are faithful to the concept of no harm but at the same time provide challenges to those ready to take them. I never got bored in a class, they put emphasis in alignment and strength before depth and my upper back, shoulders and posture in general feel so much better since I’m part of this community.

I love that the studio is small and welcoming. I always feel safe and comfortable. I appreciate that there is no competitiveness like I have previously felt at other studios. All of the classes I have attended have been incredible. The teachers at Ahimsa inspire me to learn more about and practice more yoga. Thank you for being such an open and positive space!

My favourite yoga studio that I’ve been to in Toronto! All of the teachers are absolutely amazing and have a unique teaching style so no class is the same. The studio itself is very clean and the staff and folks attending are super friendly. Some of my favourite instructors so far have been Zen, Jimena, Lacey and Shawna. I always leave feeling revived, relaxed, and breaking a sweat! The only feedback I have would be that since it does get a bit noisy in the evening classes, due to the restaurant downstairs, I would recommend closing the windows, turning up the music and turning on the fans to reduce heat & minimize outside noise. Also, I wished there was a 5 min grace period at the beginning of class in case you’re running late and get locked out. Other that that, I’m definitely going to continue coming since there are so many great instructors and I look forward to attending every single class. :)

YYTT or YogaYamaTeacher training changed my perspective about Yoga & how I approached it. The program met me where I was in my yoga journey and gave me the necessary tools & learning to shape my own teaching style. There is so much space & support created throughout the course to overcome stage fear, to be authentic and discover what Yoga is truly about - beyond the asanas. After 6 months of YYTT, my yoga practice had become more free, flexible and one that suits my body, The most important learning for me in YYTT was, each one’s body is different, and there is no need to fit the body into the pose- rather, trust your body to indicate to you what works best- in the moment. Choosing from a place of love rather than ego.YYTT is not just a yoga course, it’s so much more than that. You will hear this said over & over. But it is in fact the truth. The program shapes your values, character and challenges you to become authentic. And you carry this off the mat & into the world to show up authentic, confident, empathetic and grounded. This is how I experienced it off the mat.

This Annex yoga studio has a community of serious yoga practitioners. Great yoga found here! Founder JP brings a mystical quality to his classes and often invites students to close their eyes to find their inner practice. Highly recommend!

I love the attention that is paid to both the spiritual and physical side of the practice at Ahimsa. I also find that this is the only studio I've been where there is attention truly paid to the integrity of each pose; more about growing and building strength, vs. getting to the final pose, but doing it incorrectly / potentially hurting yourself. Most teachers do adjustments too, which is so helpful. I appreciate it when teachers add in some thoughts, or lessons" in the class

JP is the best yoga teacher I have ever had - I also really like the girl who assists him in the class. I release soo much during and following his class it is like therapy lol. I still have to make it to one of Michelle's classes and looking forward to that. I love the spirituality of the studio and how everyone gets along really well. All the other teachers are great too.

This is the best yoga studio in the city. Hands down. These teachers really practice yoga on and off the mats. The asana offered in the studio is thoughtful and intelligently designed, but the studio is much more than that. It is a place of community where everyone is welcome and is infused with the principles that guide it- love, connection, growth, and contribution. Those values pervade every class offered at Ahimsa. GO! And if it's your first time, start with JP's classes. :)
