Roger Gordon Clockmakers Ltd

Very poor experience. I shipped my clock to Roger Gordon per their instructions for repair. It was delivered on 11/2/20. Today is 11/23/20, 3 weeks later, and I have still not heard from them, not even an acknowledgement that they received it. They refuse to answer any emails or phone calls, and their phones are not set up to accept messages. I'm starting to think that I will never see my clock again. I would advise to take your business elsewhere.

I sent an antique clock works for rebuilding per instructions on website in November. After three weeks I was contacted with a quote of over $1400. I agreed to the price. After waiting until March without hearing from them, I called and was told the work was complete, and it was being test run for a couple weeks to ensure the integrity of the repair. My card was then charged the full amount, but was never contacted with shipping information. Early April I tried to call to check the status, but the voicemail system was either full or malfunctioning. I then emailed via the website and received a response telling me they were closed for the Christmas holiday. I had to call at least ten phone numbers listed on the website in order to get an answer and to my surprise it was Roger himself. I explained what had transpired and wondered why I hadn’t been contacted. He launched into a diatribe about me being impatient and told me he didn’t need my business. I told him to just forget it, refund my charge and return mechanism. He said it would take two weeks. This is the two week mark and I called again. He told me he needed another week to process. I am going wait the week and if no refund I’m my card happens, I will dispute the charges. Avoid this business!

I mailed at a cost of $21.30 an Emperor clock movement to Midcoast Clock in Titusville, PA, for repair. I was told that the movement needed a complete overhaul at a cost of $995 plus shipping of $38.64. I reluctantly agreed and on or about 12/21/17 the movement was returned to me but one of the three chains was off the wheel. I was told the movement would need to be sent back to be fixed and readjusted which I did on 4/20/18 at a cost of $38.21. In mid-July the movement was finally returned to me but it still would not run. I located a clock and watch company in Bergen County, the owner of which agreed to come out of the area to our house to repair the clock. When he heard the price that I had been charged he said I had been vastly overcharged and that he could get a brand new movement for my clock at his cost at a little over $200. He called Midcoast Clock to see what the justification was for a charge that high and the person on the line hung up on him. Thanks to him my clock is finally running and I will now post a very favorable review of his establishment.
