Healthy Home Renovations

My husband and I had a great experience with Sean over the past year. We hired him for a large project that involved demolishing our old home, repairing and enlarging the existing foundation, and rebuilding the rest of the house from the foundation up. He handled all aspects of the project very professionally and effectively. He was especially helpful with brainstorming ideas to keep us on budget and still get what we wanted. We were very thankful for his patience and flexibility as we changed our minds many times along the way. He has a small crew, so we found it great knowing that the person you were talking to about decisions was the same guy on site doing the work. His workmanship itself was top notch. My experience with Sean was an excellent one, so much so that I am having him come back to do another job for me.The job was a large one and required several weeks of work. He was at my door every morning with a smile and worked until late afternoon, and always cleaned after himself each day. He was very respectful of me and my property. If something unexpected arose, he would call me to let me know and advise me when he was returning, which I appreciated.We discussed changes and he always listened and accommodated me.I definitely recommend Sean - he is honest and hard working - two things that are hard to find these days.p.s. my son has been in construction for 20 years and he approved Sean's work.

Sean finished the basement of our new home about 18 months ago. From design drawings, through permits, framing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, installing a fireplace, drywall, to the final painting and flooring install, his work was meticulous.Sean was able to take our ideas and deliver what we wanted. He had great suggestions from a technical / building standpoint, while maintaining our vision in terms of what we wanted the finished product to look like. He is knowledgeable, honest, and doesn’t cut corners.We would highly recommend Sean and his company and will certainly use him again if and when we need work done.

Absolutely not one to complain but do not use this company to renovate your home. We did a major renovation through them and aside from what a headache it was to complete the reno, many aspects of the work is beginning to fall apart. Sean the owner didn't live up to his word and has zero communication skills. If this was a small job I probably wouldn't have said anything but I would HATE anyone to go through what we went through especially considering how much money was spent. This renovation would have been even worse if it weren't for two of his workers Rich and Brian (note they no longer work for Sean) as they did their best to try and pull things together for us. I could list everything that happened, but lets just generalize the entire experience as a disaster. In regards to Sean, at heart, I don't think he is a bad person, but he is definitely not qualified to run the type of operation or offer the type of services he is. Like most renos, you run into problems - completely expected and understandable, but ESPECIALLY in those cases you need someone reliable. It became clear early on he had never taken on a project quite this big and we paid the price in the end in so many ways. He never once took any accountability which made it even worse. This renovation became a comedy show. I would REALLY recommend Steve Young Construction if you are in the Collingwood area. We have used him since and he is amazing, isn't afraid to talk and discuss and does exactly what he says he will do. He isn't the cheapest but well worth it. He was able to navigate all obstacles and made us feel safe.
