BEWARE of these scammers!!! My mom fell for the 'lovely student' who came to the door asking for a donation and telling her she could cancel any time.. My mom was told that she would receive a call to 'confirm' the donation amount before any deductions would be made. My mom never received a call and checked her account today and sure enough, they took money! She went to the bank immediately to stop future payments..It's pathetic when these organizations lie and cheat vulnerable individuals. As much as it's a nice and thoughtful gesture to donate, think twice before you do so.

These people are a complete scam. I donated a couple of years ago, and then they started reoccurring payments against my credit card. The bosses drive around in super luxury cars. I have told them by email, and phone, to stop dinging my cc, they acknowledge, and then sure enough each month I get dinged. Have to change my cc just to get rid of them. Complete scam, doubt any of the donations actually get where they're supposed to.

It’s sad because people think they are getting scammed when they donate to PLAN. I donate monthly because I have agreed to the nice guy at the door that I understand it’s a monthly program.They will not charge you for a monthly program unless you agree to it over the phone. I do think they need to change their approach like giving financial info over the phone but other than that, this charity is absolutely legit. The work they do for these kids is truly amazing.If you don’t want to donate, just simply tell them “no” instead of commenting months later and not remembering that you agreed to donate monthly.If you truly want to make a difference in other peoples lives, this charity is a great place to start.

I had a bad experience with one of their guys at my door step. Looked like scam and now I read all these negative reviews I can rest assured I made the right decision by kicking the guy away

Unprofessional and bad behaviour!I was at home yesterday and two boys came at my door. We had some conversation and the boy ask me if I would like to register to help children. We were going through the registration form and agreed to give my name & email out (on the 1st page). Then I change my mind on the 2nd page of the form because this company directly ask me for money and even the minimum is $28! I said this is the first time I ever heard about this company. I would like to start with a one time donation (like $5-10), but there is no such choice. So I told the boy that I change my mind and ask him to STOP the process.BUT! He finished the registration by himself in front of me WITHOUT MY CONSENT. I asked him to STOP a couple times and he DID NOT.I believed my information is now stored in this company's database.TOTAL SCAM. DO NOT ever trust anyone from this company.

SCAM of a Charity!!Was told we were making only a one time donation, turned out they continued to charge our cc monthly. Called to cancel, after a long chat was told it'd be cancelled before the next month. Nope, card was charged again. Had to cancel with MasterCard.Also, sent us a charitable donation receipt for the WRONG amount.

Donations sought aggressively & difficult to cancel monthly donations.While I would normally have been happy to donate to this charity, the way they solicit donations and manage their donors is poor. This was my experience:They asked for donations by coming to our door. I took their info and asked them to come back later after I had a chance to vet the charity. They did. When they returned I told them I was willing to make a one time donation. They pressed me for a monthly commitment as it would be matched and have significantly more impact. I was firm that I did not want a monthly commitment. They told me that I could do a monthly commitment, and then cancel later - that way everyone wins. I didn't like this option, since it put the burden on me for further work, but since it was going to essentially triple my donation, I accepted.I then had to get on the phone while they were there and answer a bunch of questions and confirm that I was signing up for a monthly commitment.Later, before the 2nd monthly withdrawal came, I called and cancelled my monthly donations. The woman I spoke to was lovely and it all seemed easy, however I have since noticed that the funds were still removed from my cc. The monthly donation has not been cancelled, and I now have to call back to have it cancelled again.

Be very, very careful. I was a supporter for 20 plus years. So was my husband, Husband asked them to stop calling him for extra donations above his monthly donation. They ignored it for years, until husband got annoyed and quit his sponsorship. I decided in February to also change direction with my charity dollars and stop my sponsorship. My credit card was still charged in March. I let that slide. Then I was charged again in April. I phoned again (40 minutes on hold) and was assured the payment would be reversed. It still hasn’t, even after further contact with Plan Canada. I will never sign up for automatic payments with charities ever again. I give to Red Cross Canada, UNICEF, etc and never have an issue, nor get hassled for funds. So disappointed in Plan Canada!Update: after much wrestling my April payment was reversed, and I have not had an issue since. Regardless, Plan Canada should do better than this.

These people are donation extortioners. Impossible to cancel. They even take the option off the website so you can waste time calling them. They pressed for a monthly donation and now it is impossible to cancel. An organization like this makes me doubt they true intent with the money. Im going to fight this with my Bank.

Nothing but a scam. Signed up for a one time donation then was sent a letter saying monthly called them right away to cancel got an email confirming my cancellation then next month took money again. It’s not a charity, they are crooks!
