I commissioned custom hunting knives from Steve and he worked with me to refine the shapes for optimal function. I've used these knives and the ones I gifted away heavily and I haven't had to hone the edges or correct for chipping once! He used the best 5160 steel and absolutely nailed the heat treatments. His workmanship is art, including the custom sheathing.For anyone interested in a knife etc, definately ask Steve to see comparable blades in his shop. He's very easy going and knows his stuff.

I worked with Steve to create a custom hand-and-a-half sword and I gmcan genuinely say that it was an incredible experience. Steve is not only an amazing craftsman, but also a wonderful person to work with! The updates Steve sent throughout the sword forging process allowed for us to talk about every aspect of the blade and his professionalism and willingness to work through every minute detail were fantastic. For anyone looking for a Canadian-made sword (either custom or an existing design), I would highly recommend Steve at Winterborn Blades.

GREAT EXPERIENCE! I did the 2 day knife making course with a buddy and it was awesome! Steve gave us a run down of what to expect and carefully guided us through the process. He made sure to allow for our own creative freedom in designing them while making sure we were within reasonable expectations. He graciously helped us when we struggled with certain parts of the process as well and would show us how to do things better. He had great energy and was very encouraging!! SUPER happy with the knives we went home with!

I absolutely love my sword I got from Winterborn Blades! Steve has always been extremely kind and generous, offering free maintenance on it and a friendly chat at any time. I won the sword in a raffle at Fan Expo, and I can honestly say it was the best prize I've ever won. The sword itself is very well balanced and beautiful. Holding it conveys a sense of power, and it flows through the air like its natural state is in motion. A great sword made by a great guy!

I wanted to buy my partner a sword as a gift and I was honestly blown away. The artist was quick to respond to inquiries, very clearly knowledgeable and experienced, patient, and kept me up to date through the process. If you're buying from them, it is absolutely worth every penny. Highly recommend. Will be returning if I ever need to get another.

I took the small knife making course and had a fantastic time! Steve is a patient and passionate teacher, who's skill and love for the craft is clear. I walked away from the course having learned skills on a variety of tools, and a custom knife that will last a lifetime. Definitely recommend his products and courses.

The work done by steve is art. The sword i recieved exceeded my expectations, and at the same time i was left with no room for doubts about the quality and craftsmanship, as Steve was very professional and very open about every step of the process. For anyone looking for a custom blade, i would suggest this bladesmith to be your first stop.

My wife got me a small knife weekend course as a birthday present and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Steve is incredibly knowledgeable and a very patient teacher, as well as a great chat. The course was very hands on and practical, and the end result was exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks Steve!

Amazing weekend learning how to make a knife with Steve at Winterborn Blades!!! Highly recommended for ANYONE interested in using their hands to craft something really special! Just look at my photos. What an exhilarating experience, and I have never done this before, or anything like it! Steve was great to work with. From the beginning he encouraged me to ask questions and answered all of them, and more. He explained to me the tools and machines in his workshop and made sure that I was very comfortable working with them. He was very friendly and easy to learn from. In his two-day workshop I really got a flavor of the science and art of knife making! I'm already looking at doing a 5-day course with him. 5 STARS ALL THE WAY!!!
