Elgin Mills Community Environmental Centre

The place is very simple to navigate through. At the entrance you get a ticket. Drive forward and someone helps you determine what park slot to park at where there are huge container bins over a half wall. The items get thrown over the wall in to the large containers. They accept recycling items like cardboard and Styrofoam items for free. Otherwise most other types of disposal cost $10 for a van filled with items. Best to check at the entrance how much.

Busy Canada Day long weekend. Why put out pylons to slow everything down? There are a hundred cars in line to toss things out. It took 3 worker to collect 5 paint cans from my trunk. One pushed a cart, while the other two supervised him hold the cart and I had to load the paint cans... They actually said good job" to each other after

An excellent experience. Start to finish from entry to exit, everything was smooth. In order to make things more efficient, staff were even helping people with larger items to make sure things went quickly. They also have bins set up to just toss your trash into. Compared to the really terrible experience we had at the Georgina transfer station a few days ago, this was dramatically different and you can tell the people in charge here are competent.

I use the centre for dumping garbage. It smells a lot better than the location that is closer to me. The guys who direct the line for garbage are super friendly. Every time I drive in with my truck usually stuffed to the brim to garbage, one guy helps direct me into the spot.I see a lot of people complaining about the lines. Look you’re dumping for garbage or whatever. Since everyone has different amounts they have to get rid of, it’ll take its time. In the summer, I waited 1 hour just to get to the front of the line. By that time they had stopped admitting people in. I knew with my load, even with my sibling there, we were going to take awhile. Be patient. Turn off your car and wait for a bit.

Update second visit:I had a monitor with its packaging (cardboard+foam) and I had no problem disposing of the same materials on my first visit, they even helped me with taking my foam and cardboard. THIS TIME, after disposing the monitor, one employee saw my foam and asked me if I want that disposed, of which he said costs $10. I would not recommend anyone doing that, especially by purchasing an electronic you already paid for a 10% environmental fee. The employee was so impatient about rushing our car into the other lane, i said we'll take the foam home, and he was so annoyed. Overall.... Disappointed.First visit was 4 stars 2 years agoVery friendly staff on site to answer your questions if it's your first time. The signs are clear. Just wished that all the staff are wearing masks. The booth attendant and two of the outdoor staff at household items were maskless.

The staff is very rude. When I drove to an area that different from where I wanted to go. One staff yelled at me!

Visited today to drop off some electronics and garbage. Layout was very logical and efficient. Staff was very helpful and personable. If you're dropping off less than 100kg of materials it's a flat $10 rate which is great value. I was quite impressed how efficient and painless the visit was.

Contrary to a posting from Canada Day Long Weekend I arrived at Labour Day Long Weekend and everything is running so smoothly. Well organized recycling depot, friendly staff. They guided me first to hazardous waste where I unloaded paint cans to a friendly worker. From there you have to pass the different recycling stations like electronics, metal etc.Within 10 minutes I had unloaded my recycling items and left. Thanks for making it so easy.

Right side has 9 stations with least amount of usage and always empty. Left side where majority of contractors dump construction garbage barely has 2 open stations. Huge line up of trucks that usually last for hours. This does not make any sense. What a waste of space. Garbage design.
