Immediately when my fiancé and I walked in, we were greeted by the hostess who knew us by reservation name. Our order was taken promptly and Nicole, our waitress, made sure to explain the intricacy of the menu & share her favourite items. Every single dish blew us away. Especially the ikura latkes ( made us think woahh this is unbelievably good!")

True rating: 7/10We got a chance to experience SARA since there was a tasting deal on travelzoo. The lasting impression from this restaurant wasn't the food but Benji, the FOH manager.I've never been to a middle priced restaurant where the staff genuinely cared about the feedback from their customers and Benji did that. The interaction with him really lifted the rating because he wanted honest feedback and he wanted to know that the customers were happy. The nail was the fact he remembered my partner's name even after the meal was over. As they say, it's all in the small details. So to start off with the rest of the experience. The ambience of the restaurant was beautiful. For a Tuesday night I was surprised it was really busy. Everyone looked to be having a good time. The rest of the staff were nice, the service started slow as they weren't aware what plates were included in the travelzoo deal. So there was a lot of back and forth. But once each dish was brought to our table, we were explained what each dish was. I did ask if we could have our photo taken but we never ended up getting a photo done by the staff.I'll say from the start, I'm very critical of what I eat and food reviews are subjective. Let's start with what I love, the tuna tartare chip was a flavour explosion. The perfect crunch from the chip with the acidity and saltiness of the tartare. The wagyu reuben was soft and tender which a nice punch with the mustard dipping sauce. Wasn't a fan of the bread being too toasted but I understand there needed to be a texture contrast. The chopped salad did not look impressive but after taking multiple bites, it was an adventure in your mouth. With each bite, you were able to taste a different flavour. Very nice touch with the wasabi peas. The beet salad was pleasant. A bit of sweetness, smoothness & juiciness. So the cons, two profiteroles in this tasting. I personally didn't like how they started the profiterole as an amuse bouche since my thought is that an amuse bouche should be something that's going to impress you. It's a one biter that should hit all the different senses. It was a denser pastry when one usually thinks of light and airy. The ikura latkes was overwhelmed with the cream. The sea bass was cooked perfectly however I personally wasn't a fan of the sauces. We did add an additional starter: croquette which was alright but nothing super dazzling. There was too much pecorino overdosing the fluffiness of the potato for my liking. The two house wines were an added bonus of something easy to drink and rounded the meal overall.

Had our 1 year anniversary here and were really impressed! The restaurant is lovely, tables are spaced out, and the service is incredible. Our waiter provided great recommendations, and all of our servers were knowledgeable. We had the tasting menu with the wine pairing (they don’t skimp on their pours!), which was delicious. We also started with cocktails, which was more alcohol than I planned for but I have no regrets. Also: the bathrooms are next level. Would definitely recommend this resto for a fancy night out: it’s not cheap, but worth the investment for a nice night out.

The food was exceptional. I am lost for words. It was just perfect. Service was amazing, and the atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. I would say the octopus, tuna tataki, and Japanese eggplants were some of my favorite items. The steak was also definitely a highlight it was cooked perfectly.

Went on a Thursday evening (table of 4) and we did the Journey pre-selected menu. I PUT MY PHONE inside the table as suggested, so no pics of food. I think we had 6-8 dishes + 2 cocktails each (so 8 drinks) and our bill for 4 people came out to $600. Well worth it because the food and drink were DELICIOUS. One person at our table has a lot of sensitivities and allergies and they custom made special little dishes just for him that were honestly as delicious if not more than the 'standard' menu. Would definitely recommend.

Loved the Ikura Latke, tuna tartare and the crème brûlée.We ordered about 6 dishes but it took us 2 hours to finish because you had to wait for each of them to be served(average of 10-15 minutes). There was a time when we had to wait for 20 minutes for the last 2 main dishes but at that point our appetite has already been reduced. We would have finished all the dishes if they had been served all at once.Good thing there was no reservation ahead of us for our table so we were able to stay a bit longer

Came here for dinner on Saturday night and experience was near perfect from start to finish. Staff are all so warm and attentive, especially Joseph who took great care of us. They started us off with an amuse-bouche of mini cheddar puffs with a roasted garlic cream cheese, which was delicious and packed with flavour. Everything that followed was also excellent. The ikura latke was probably my favourite and a must order - the flavours all worked so well together (which honestly can be said of all the other dishes). The tuna tartare was refreshing, loved the yuzu and truffle combination. The chopped salad was interesting texturally and portion-wise slightly larger than the other dishes. I liked that the fried chicken and grilled octopus were available as half portions so we could try both. Fried chicken was great, cooked well and not greasy. Would've loved a few more pieces of cucumber to help cut through. The grilled octopus was overcooked, but the flavours of the raita and chana masala were spot on.Ended with the caramel cream profiteroles for dessert. The spiced pecan complemented the dulce de leche cream really nicely. Otherwise, I think it would've been a bit too sweet. We weren't sure if we ordered enough as portions are on the smaller side, but it turned out to be the perfect amount and we were pleasantly stuffed. I appreciate that Joseph advised us that we'd be content and didn't try to push us to order more than necessary. The first few dishes came out quickly but there was a bit of a pause before the last two came out. Ambiance is clean and minimalistic yet cozy and unpretentious. Don't forget to check out the bathrooms (heated toilet seats and Aesop soap!) before you leave! It's a pricier meal even sans drinks, but a great spot for a special occasion or to just treat yourself. Most groups were 2-4 people but they seem to be very accommodating of larger parties as well - just be sure to make a reservation.

Fantastic food, pricey but not ridiculous. Tried the ikura latkes (good), salmon crudo (disappointing), wagyu reuben (amazing, ordered two!), brussels sprouts (maybe the best thing we had, very delicious!), chopped salad (great), sea bass (very good), and NY striploin (good but nothing special, not worth the price imo). Cocktails (Vamos, not bad. Theo, great. Kefir & Courage, good) and wines were also pretty good. Great meal overall, friendly & helpful staff, pretty pricey but would visit again.

Great tasting menu! 8 courses. Your chef's do a fantastic job in that little kitchen. Everything was delicious and you accommodated someone with a Gluten free and Dairy free diet for us. Drinks, wine taxes and tip about $100 per person. A great meal - thanks you

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this unique restaurant for the 3rd time and I have to say, everything from start to finish, was top-notch and deserving of 5-stars.First off, the ambiance of the restaurant was truly special. The decor was tasteful and sophisticated. As for the food, it was simply amazing. The menu featured an array of creative dishes that were unlike anything I had ever tasted before. We had the Wagu grilled cheese, green salad, branzino, and the brussel sprouts. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. I could tell that the chef put a lot of thought and care into every ingredient and dish. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, making us feel welcomed and valued throughout the entire meal. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent recommendations.Overall, I would highly recommend Sara to anyone looking for a truly special dining experience.
