They used to call Atlin the Switzerland of the north, and wow, it's a great description of Atlin, framed by spectacular snow capped mountains and surrounded by emerald green lakes. The town is small and not a lot of amenities but it is a wonderful place to wander around and explore. The residents and Atlin Historical society have done an amazing job of renovating many of the old original buildings and vessels, dating back to the days of the gold rush in the early 1900's. Atlin is out of the way, but well worth the trip.

Beautiful Lake, great fishing. Water so clear it's like you're in the tropics. Went for a swim, definitely not like being in the tropics.

Atlin Lake
Atlin Lake is a beautiful town and we really enjoyed visiting there recently. The only big disappointment was the owner of the Shell gas station in town, who was very rude and abusive when we stopped for diesel. When i mentioned that we did not know whether to move our vehicle first before we paid (because there was a long line of vehicles behind us), he said that we would not be able to outrun the bullets in his gun. He said some other nasty things. This interaction put a negative spin on an otherwise great visit. Otherwise Atlin gets 5 stars.

It's a big lake with mountains surrounding it, clean and very beautiful but cold
