A quaint trendy place literally under the brewery district. Service is great with a lively atmosphere.The duck was surprisingly the favorite of the night. Smokey flavour on the outside with soft tender centre. Would highly reccomend!Mushroom udon was also a great highlight. Nice hit of spiced seasoning which was tied together well with the cream sauce.Many of the Dishes are sharable for up to four people. Would not reccomend ordering sushi here but the izakaya is decent!

Checked out Shōjō Izakaya for happy hour.Service was good; attentive without being overbearing. The HH menu is short and sweet (5:00pm to 6:00pm, 9:00pm to close) with 6 food items and four drink options.- 2x Cherry sling ($10.00) - their spin on the classic Singaporean drink.- Honey butter soy edamame ($4.00) - sauce was sticky and really clung to the edamame.- Yaki udon ($10.00) - udon wasn't yaki style but we enjoyed it. The sauce/broth was good.- Okonomiyaki fries ($7.00) - fries were plain.- Salmon sashimi ($7.00 for 5) - slices are on the small side, but quality was good.- Chicken wings ($7.00) - the special flavour of the evening was a chashu sauce ($0.50 extra). Nothing memorable about it.Solid happy hour eats and drinks at SI.

Shoji Izakaya is a greatly unique place in the Basement. Food was Good, staff was Great and Knowledgeable. Overall had a wonderful Experience. Will be back for more.

Shoji Izakaya is a greatly unique place! It was unfortunate that a lot was no longer available, however with what was available was absolutely scrumptious! The happy wings were extremely savoury and fried perfectly. The rotating cocktail was great! And most importantly the Curry Braised Short was amazing! It was a perfect balance of spice and savoury! Made to perfection and the meat practically melted in my mouth! Kristina was a phenomenal server!

Wanted to try this place for a while and I'm not disappointed, had the pressed salmon sushi, fried chicken and Brussel sprouts, food was so good I actually forgot to take pictures of it because I was too busy savoring the taste of every bite, great cocktails too, definitely a place to visit in Edmonton.

The food was delicous and I really liked the cozy, causal atmosphere. We had the pressed salmon sushi, okonomiyaki fries, and the mushroom cream udon. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely delicious dishes, wonderful staff! 10/10 experience. The pressed salmon rolls were our favourite, but all the food was amazing. Great value for the cost!

I've been to Shojo a handful of times but do want to come here more often. They've got new menu and dessert items each time I return and sometimes they're a real hit. Their mushroom udon is great but noticed it tasted different this time around (still tasty but in a different way like two different recipes were used). The first time it was much more mouth-watering and really pulled me into the dish.Recommend their hot foods or izakaya menu times, wouldn't really recommend sushi here as it's not on the high end of their creations. They were all kind of different sized and most of them were oddly skinny. Cones felt a little small as well but needed something to fill me up a bit more. Katsu sliders were on POINT though, worth the try :)

A hidden gem in Edmonton.Located in the lower basement of a building in the brewery district. There is plenty of parking and nice places to explore nearbyThe izakaya has a wonderful atmosphere.Happy hour drinks and small plates are a must try. Homemade sodas and iced teas as well.There is a nice drink selection. Homemade sodas and iced teas as well.The food is flavourful and inspired.The staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
