Forest Inn & Conference Centre

Room wasn't ready when I went to check in and when I went to finally lay down an employee let himself in the room to drop off some shampoo he forgot to leave behind, this startled me and unsure if he knocked due to headphones in my ears. My real issue was with the older evening front desk lady and her rude attitude towards me. I got locked out of my room as my keycard stopped working and so I went to the front desk for assistances. I don't know what type of day she had but I don't need to be disrespected like that when I'm trying to be civil.The restaurant was relaxed and easy going. They have a deck and some nearby benches to use for a nice relaxing dinner.

First of all this was it only hotel I could find with availability in Sioux Lookout. I think you would have to book months in advance at the nicer hotel across the road & plan your trip around that. Upon pulling up & seeing a beautiful hotel across the road I immediately felt regret at the old rundown Forest Inn. My room was very small but very worn. the bed was clean and comfortable but the room Had chipped paint everywhere, stains on the ceilings etc. The bathroom was very old and also surface clean but not deep clean. I chose not to shower. I was in the main building and apparently those rooms are nicer than the others. I wouldn’t want to see them. I learned from someone in town, the hotel is used as a homeless shelter all year round. This explains the local agency shuttle buses coming in and out all night long. Anyway I don’t think I will be staying here again. Next time I will plan my visit based on availability at the hotel across the road that used to be a Best Western. I also heard the restaurant is nice but somewhat overpriced for the food. I chose not to go there and had a sandwich from Tim Hortons instead.

Cozy, comfortable spot with a beautiful view of the lake. Clean room and friendly service. We loved the restaurant too. Thanks for a lovely stay in Sioux Lookout. We'll be back!

Checking in, the lady wasn't polite. I knew it was going to be a bad start. During our stay with Forest, we felt discriminated. Upon check out, I know we were late, but the lady who worked on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 11:00am shift. You didn't have to threaten us with calling the police to kick us out. The rooms you put us in, stunk with cigarettes smell and you guys tried to mask the smell by harsh cleaning chemicals. Thank you, for the lovely stay.

I have stayed at Forrest Inn in the past. It looks to me, things including the management has changed now. However, my dissatisfaction extends to the way I was treated by the receptionist who goes by the name that starts with S and ends with A (name withheld for privacy reasons). On may 30th,2023 morning, I requested the receptionist to get me A&A Taxi to go to the Airport. I was told it would arrive in 20 min. At 20min, I called the receptionist to see if the Taxi has arrived. I was told Taxi arrived and left since I was not downstairs. I asked the Lady at the front desk why I was not informed of the Taxi arrival. To my suprise I was told that that is not her job to inform the guests of Taxi arrivals. I asked if she could get me an other Taxi. Again to my suprise, I was told, they don't order Taxies for guests and I needed to do it myself. Adding to this experience, the lady was rude and unskilled in many ways. I had to make a complaint with the Manager who also was suprised to hear that the clients are responsible for ordering their own Taxies. The Manager promised to make changes.Because of the above mentioned experience, I would give zero out of five 0/5 in recommending this place to anyone who would look for a decent customer service experience at the front desk. Unless things change, I will not recommend this place to anyone of my friends or families.Cheers.

Room was clean but extremely dated with a very small television. Staff were friendly at check in. Restaurant was great, good food and there aren't many options for food in Sioux Lookout these days. You can tell this hotel has been through a lot, visible damage to door jams and hinges.

Clean but slightly dates, starting to show it's age. Restaurant is outside around back, a few steps from the rooms. Staff is usually friendly and helpful but have had an occasional cranky front desk lady. Would easily stay again...probably the best option in town.

Love this hotel but the room service cleaning man needs to dress properly. He looked like a homeless man when he knocked on my door in the morning. I thought someone was trying to break into my room. Other than that, room and service was good.

We provide support services for 10 of the FN's in the Sioux Lookout area. We have been staying at the Forest Inn for that lst 15 plus years. We overnight in Sioux whenever we are traveling to the rmote communities.For the last 10-12 years we have been booking 4-5 rooms for 2 weeks to do our annual Water Plant inspections in the communities. We were always very well looked after by the friendly and courteous staff. We had access to the shuttle to get us to and from our charter plane every day. The entire staff were very supportive and assisted us in our efforts to support the FN'sIn the last 2-3 years all of that has changed.. The friendly courteous people are gone and the ammenites have all been taken away. They now charg for the shuttle and the friendly, courteous supportive staff are no longer there.The final straw is doing away with the free breaksfast and us ahving to pay $100 for the four of us to have breakfast. Sure they give a 10 % discount to guest but... $12 for bacon and eggs? $9 for a handful of fruit? $19 for french toast... The toast was always dry and the baconwas cooked beyond recognition. They know that they are the only breaskfast in town and they take advantage. It's shameful!!!The dinner staff for the most part are still friendly and courteous, but the food quality seems to be declining rapidly.

Nice lady at front desk was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Some common areas are under renovation, but that did not affect the quality of my stay.The restaurant was surprisingly good! Again, friendly staff and good service.
