We found Or Shalom about 18 months ago through a friend's recommendation, and it has been wonderful. The community is warm and welcoming, and encourages you to learn and question in the path of spiritual growth.

Or Shalom is a spiritual oasis in Vancouver. I participated in the virtual Jewish Meditation Retreat, and it was a breath of fresh air. I'm so glad that queer Jews like me and my friends have the opportunity to participate in this community, even though it isn't my home community.

This is not your grandfather's shul. Open and inviting, traditional and creative, Or Shalom is Canada's oldest Jewish Renewal synagogue, with the holy chutzpah to respect the past and live a Jewish life as the world needs today. And the davenning, music, and harmonies (when we can sing together)...out of this world.

I love this warm and welcoming, spiritually inspiring, intellectually challenging, and socially conscious community. Hoping that those who are seeking a progressive, egalitarian spiritual community will consider checking us out. Wonderful experience of rich Jewish tradition. The Shabbat is wonderful. The role of women in prayer is praiseworthy. The children have their own playing corner. On the upstairs there is a small but rich library. Remember before entering prayer hall please ask for permission and don't forget to wear the cap.

Or Shalom is a very special Jewish Renewal community. We have wonderful leadership, stimulating adult education classes and events, and an open, inclusive, and egalitarian community. I am very grateful to be part of the Or Shalom community.
