In any other province, the bank takes care of discharging a mortgage, but in Alberta that responsibility lies on the homeowner. The office hours are difficult to get around, and when you finally take a day off to take care of it; they are closed in person. On top of that, it’s impossible to call and get a human.I work for the government in another capacity and I don’t have the option to “close my office” to deal with backlog.

I cannot even express enough my disappointment in this office. We use Land Titles on a daily basis and it is just inconceivable how a government office can be so terribly run. The NEVER reply to emails. I have email chains that go back 9 months with no response. No one takes responsibility for anything and no one provides any type of service. I don't know what it needs to take to get any sort of acknowledgement with this office but something needs to change. Not only are we the only Province to still use PAPER but there is no support whatsoever. It is really discraceful.

After making a visit to their office I want to give them zero star. I knew that it is Government office and did not have high expectation of service. But it was nightmare experience. Why should they work when they have complete job security. These people won’t even last for a single day if it was a private office. Why waste tax payer money on these lazy people. Privatization is the only solution where customers get better service and tax payer money is saved.

I’ve been waiting for 3 weeks just trying to file a writ of enforcement for a court case against a boss who has held wages from me, but of course the whole office has to be closed down in person “to address backlog” meanwhile Trudeau and the mayor are spending taxpayer money on garbage when they should hire extra workers to address the backlog. I’m looking at some of these other reviews and it seems to me that the office has been closed down for literal years…When a service that is integral to a community’s operation, those responsible for the service should do anything in their power for it to remain open, yet we do not see that. But what else should I have expected from the Canadian government?? Pathetic….

I'm trying to speak to land Title office but there's no options to directly speak to the office. I already sent an email, but got no reply. It's Very pathetic that no one wants to help. It's been 3 months I'm trying to reach someone from the office. But the office people is of no help

I needed to submit documents to change the name on my title and I did as much research beforehand as I could by reading all the instructions available online. I emailed the land titles office several specific questions that I was unable to find the answers to online and got a generic copy and paste answer that was directly from their website which was very unhelpful as I can read the website myself. I went back and forth with them several times and each time got back another non answer to my questions...just generic copy and paste which is a waste of time. I finally gave up and just submitted the documents as is and got it rejected after 5 months due to the fee being insufficient....which was one of my points of clarification from my first email that they didn't answer. You would think that an office so behind would try their best to avoid more work in the first place since I will now have to resubmit my request again.

Tried getting it done by phone. But was not able to. Came to the office today and Christina was very helpful . But sad to see a government office closed to the public. Specially not even a chair for elderly or a disabled person to sit

I am so disappointed that how the officers work, they don't have enthusiasm to help people. It's terrible for a government department.

No indication as to why this LTO is over 3 months behind. Are we still using covid as an excuse...pathetic! This service is obviously very important to the citizens and there should be some investigating as to why simple processes are taking so long. You are basically left with hope that it gets done and right the first time. I am not sure that closing in person service is really helping the backlog. The government should be looking at LTO and see if process can be outsourced perhaps to the hundreds of registry agents.
