Grand Manan Museum

Really great exposition about the history of Grand Manan. Outdoors was fun as well!!

Cute little (but surprisingly big) museum. Great past time when you are visiting the isle during a rainy day.

What a fantastic local museum! I've been to museums all over the world and this is honestly one of my favorites! I'm amazed at how much is packed into this building. There are a few things for purchase at the entrance area. After that, there is an amazing exhibit for the bird lovers. An incredible amount of taxidermied birds with a giant interactive touchscreen to listen to all the different bird calls. There are other exhibits on fisheries and different stories about the island and it's inhabitants, such as the Dark Harbour Hermits. In the basement is an interactive exhibit for the rockhounds where different rock varieties can be viewed with a microscope. Heading outside at the rear of the museum is some great local art. Highly recommend this gem!

A must go. Surprisingly comprehensive, especially geology and wildlife: the bird supply was amazing. Wanted to spend more time than we had, we didn’t get a chance to see outside and the school behind.

We thought it was the best museum we have ever been in.. We rate it a 10+It was the biggest and wonderful history lesson we ever had. It kept our attention from start to finish. We took some pictures. Unbelievable how the people lived and were such Community, caring people.. Will recommend a must see.Bless you and thanks for the beautiful 2 hours, definitely good use of our time.

Excellent little museum. We’ll worth the entry price and then some. The displays were informative and I feel like I had the opportunity to learn A LOT about the island history and economy.

An excellent local museum, with an amazing sealife mural, painted on the wall of a curved stairway. A powerhouse of a curator gave us much information. We learned lots about Grand Manan history and geology. A well stocked gift shop, informative booklets .

So much history to be explored! Exhibits are professionally curated and the story of Willa Cather is delightful! Allow for 2-3 hours and you still will not see everything!

Great little museum with many interesting displays. Loved the painted circular stairwell depicting various depths of the ocean and the local gatherers of fruits of the ocean by the shore. Wonderful photographs, films, artifacts of fishing in bygone days and local economies. Well worth a visit.
