We offer a safe and accepting place for anyone to come and be themselves. We offer different programs for the LGBTQ and Ally community to come and experience and be who they are.The Durham Alliance Association Social Club (DAASC).DAASC is a “Not for Profit Organization” providing a positive safe alternative community atmosphere where you can enjoyProgramsCLUB 717is a meeting space to come to bring the community together entertainment and a social environment. Is a club on the weekends charging admission to build a revenue source for the DAASC rent and other costsVolunteer staffed and managedFuture ProgrammingYouth Self Confidence Program: NewThis would be a new program aimed at helping youth under 18 to build better self-awareness, confidence in taking pride in who they are through different expressions such as: vocal, dance and spoken word, etc.Engaging the Classic Community; NewThis program is geared towards the LGBTQ2S aging community 50+, however, it is open for all to attend. We will be inviting the 50+ community to come together to share an evening either weekly or monthly for activities that engage such as; Games night, Potluck dinners , and a movie night with other like-minded people. We believe this will build lasting friendships, community and support networks.Forty percent of the aging LGBTQ2S community are going back into the closet due to fear of persecution of discrimnation, due to gender identiy/expression and or sexual orentation and age discrimination. This community in particular feels isolated and fear of being alone. There is no where else in the durham region that provides programs for this Classic Community.Social Night; OngoingAs a part of our ongoing programming and a key source to our current funding, we offer a support social space - a dance weekly. We are the only space for the LGBTQ2S community to come together to be themselves in a social environment through our program Club 717 offering a weekly dance night.Paint Night; NewIn building a stronger community in combination with raising funds to keep the lights on we are introducing a Paint Night - Instructional collaborative project as a trail to have a great night as well to raise funds.Gay Fathers and Mothers of Durham Region; NewProvide a meeting space for Gay Fathers and Mothers of Durham Region come and network. We believe this will build lasting friendships, community and support networks. If we can secure funding we will be having a social worker come in, and help with different community resources.
