The simplest way to put this review is that Last Door Recovery Centre saved my life . I arrived there Feb 18, 1993 . I was 42 years old and had been addicted to opiates for over 20 years . I had burned all my bridges, physically I was a wreck, I hadn't worked for a living in a lot of years , my wife and my biological family both wanted nothing to do with me , I again had drug charges to deal with and it wasn't a stretch to say I had no positive prospects for the future. The professional staff at Last Door helped me sort through all the issues that I had arrived with. They patiently taught me the skills I needed to learn to take responsibility for my life and to turn it around. Above all they taught me how to enjoy my life again while living an abstinent life style and how to become a positive member of society.Today is Jan 25th / 2019 and in less than a month , God willing ,on Feb 18/ 2019 I will celebrate 26 years of abstinence . I'm still doing today the same things I was taught to do all those years ago. Today I love my life , my family , my son's family, my granddaughter , my friends and Last Door for teaching me how to do this and not do it alone. I am so grateful to be part of the Last Door family and enjoy participating in their on going community events.Update May 16th 2023:I now have 2 beautiful granddaughters am 30 years clean .. and still living my life to the fullest .. Thank you Last Door

I had been to other treatment centers before and had little results, usually relapsing within weeks of leaving their programs. The Last Door is the only place I've had success in recovery. When I came there I had almost no contact with my son and wasn't on good terms with his mom. I had lost everything. As a result of working a program and taking some suggestions I was able to build a great support group of friends that I met while I was there. I'm still in regular contact with them today. I have my son back in my life, and have rebuilt relationships with family. The food is amazing, the support is the best, and the community of New Westminster makes recovery something I love doing. Thanks to everyone at the Last Door.

My husband entered the last door just under a year ago , he was desperate and new he was no longer able to manage his life, on the verge of losing everything. Addiction had been the center of our arguments and as time went on it only got stronger. Today I am so proud to be his wife , The last door is where my husband found purpose , connection and a community, he has made life long friendships here and stays in touch with people daily, they have become like family. I am so thankful my husband was able to find this program and will always be so thankful for the journey he took that brought us here today.

The Last Door really works. Their social model helps clients build a solid foundation for recovery for the long term, not just for their treatment stay because it helps create and support quality relationships. All the staff are amazing, and comitted to really helping their clients. Not only does treatment at the Last Door get men into solid, quality recovery, it helps them awaken their spirit, and motivates them to stay clean because recovery is fun! And when you really love your life in recovery, using drugs again just doesn't seem like an option anymore. If you know someone that needs help, the Last Door is the absolute best place to get it.

Well I went from being done with life to being fully invested. So if you are done with drugs and are ready to get your life back then this is the place to do it.

A number of years ago my son and I looked for a place where he could recover. I had already lost one son to addiction, and to lose another was unthinkable. The night before signing into The Last Door, my son and I attended a meeting at a New Westminster church, and I was overwhelmed by the huge number of people affected by addiction. I was afraid that perhaps the program was not a very successful one until someone pointed out to me that these men and women were working the program. They were living their lives while in recovery. Once I stepped foot into The Last Door, my fear disappeared, and I felt welcomed and respected. There is an atmosphere of love, caring, and acceptance in that place that I have felt in only a few places in my life. The Last Door’s support for parents of the men and boys in the recovery program is something for which I will forever be grateful. The men and women in the parents group gave me strength and hope. It was a place to vent, ask question, and share disappointments and successes with others who understood what living with and loving someone with addiction was all about. My husband and I moved away from the mainland, but I still count some of the parents from that group as close friends as I do the friends my son made while there. The Last Door created a community not only for me and other parents, but also for my son who remains connected to the recovery community. As others have said, The Last Door saves lives.
