Hornepayne

If you're taking The Canadian across the country - or at least through Ontario - Hornepayne is the only town in which you are allowed to disembark, stretch your legs, and even explore a bit + run over to the local general store to purchase all your resupplies to survive the remainder of the journey in the entire province. Depending on how delayed (or not delayed) your train is, you may be allowed to disembark for a bit in Greater Sudbury, but the station is in the middle of nowhere, whereas at least here you can replenish those chocolate bars and maybe some fruits if you're lucky! The station is a classic Northern Ontario train station, slightly dilapidated but with lots of character.

Hornepayne railway station is located in the township of Hornepayne, Ontario, Canada. This station is served by Via Rail's transcontinental train The Canadian.The station was established in 1913 by the Canadian Northern Ontario Railway as a divisional point and headquarters for the Superior Division, under the name Fitzbach railway station; its name was changed to Hornepayne around 1920. Until the arrival of the highway in the 1980s, the town was dependent on the railway for transportation of supplies into the community.
