As a Parent, it is incredibly worrisome to process any dental procedure that would require your child to be sedated. The lead up of worry we face can be at best, overwhelming. Each staff member was wonderful and comforting. The care is exemplary and follow up call to check on how our son was doing the following day was so thoughtful and caring. Please know that your child is in the very best of hands and that all the care they will receive will be the best.

Very clean, bright space. Loved the seats/chairs in the hallway for those that might prefer to sit outside to pace. Inside there are several sitting areas and one other larger open space; both areas have a TV for kiddos to choose what they’d like to watch. The receptionist staff ask you to call when you arrive to ask the typical questions (when was the last meal/water etc.) but on my occasion the receptionist called me to ask during the car ride but made sure before asking “are you available to answer some questions right now or would you like to call back”? That was safe and helpful; I wasn’t driving so I answered her questions. Both receptionists were great! Helpful and always dutifully sanitizing the bathroom keys (there is a little holder for used keys and one for sanitized/clean bathroom keys) for people and answering questions with a smile.I also felt extremely at ease with Dr. Joiner; his whole demeanor is positive and calming. He mentioned that the gas mask might have a smell and that was really clutch because my kiddo is sensitive to smell, but because we primed her during the check in process and she knew what to expect, she ended up being a total champ so thank you Dr. Joiner for the heads up!The nurse (Savannah) was also great inside (they allow one parent in), and she wrapped my kiddo in a Paw Patrol blanket to keep her warm, and enthusiastically told her about the popsicle colours while the sedation took effect via a gas mask. Both Dr. Joiner and Savannah told me to prepare for a body spasm as the sedation took effect and that was helpful for me as I was feeling anxious and worried, but knowing this ahead of time prepared me.After the surgery, a nurse stayed by my child’s side until she woke up. It’s an entirely smooth operation and the nurses even have ear pieces to talk to each other! Bravo on making this whole thing so seamless for anxious parents! Once my kiddo started waking up, they brought me by her bedside (again only one parent allowed in) and the nurse got up immediately so I could sit and comfort my child. The nurse stayed and didn’t pressure us to leave; she was comforting and had kind eyes, and made sure my kiddo was fully awake before allowing us to leave. She asked whether I needed assistance to the car and gave my kiddo a popsicle. Then after checking via ear piece that we were cleared to leave, yet another nurse walked us out the doors and hallway. It was literally seamlessly run; I am so impressed.Parking within the building is super convenient and if you have an older or heavier child, AFD provides a wheelchair and a nurse to wheel your child/patient to your car. I only know this because I saw it happening, but I didn’t use a wheelchair and opted to carry my child.Overall, I highly highly recommend AFD. Very clean, very professionally run (another review called this office a “machine” and I have to agree but I mean this in the most positive way in that everything just works!!), stellar staff and everything was seamless and smooth. Keep up the great work!

Great experience. Public washrooms are a distance to walk, but the overall experience was great. Wonderful and attentive staff. Very informative and helpful.

Just so impressed by AFD. My 4 year old went in yesterday for dental work - the anesthesiologist (we had Dr Marciniak, who is great) the facilities, nurses, front desk staff (esp, Jessie) are simply awesome. Have an older child who went to BC children's years ago for his procedure w anesthesia and AFD is BY FAR the better facility. If your child is very nervous about dental work, needs extra TLC , AFD is hands down much better. They made his experience (and mine) so easy and comfortable.

My 3 yr old came here to undergo a dental procedure. The AFD team that helped us is incredibly helpful from the receptionist, nurses and anesthesiologist. Their cartoon video really helped me explain to my son what to expect and it helped him immensely. Thank you!

I cannot say enough about this dental office and the very kind and compassionate staff that work here. Dr. Chanpong was our anesthesiologist and the time and care he took in preparing us for our (almost three year old) daughter's general anesthetic was incredibly helpful when it came time for her to be put under. He was also so gentle and attentive with our daughter,. I felt calm and safe, which made it possible for me to help our daughter stay calm and feel safe, too. While I hope we won't have a reason to return (haha) I would be happy to do so, knowing that we are in incredibly good hands and the kind of care we are sure to receive.

This clinic is a well-run machine with friendly, knowledgeable people who take the time to listen and get you connected to the right people to ask your questions. I cannot say enough how valuable it is to have access to ask questions to the team directly. Thank you for taking the extra time to get down to their (kids) levels when they had something to share or ask. I really appreciated and took notice when you put the kids in position of power, asking them the questions or greeting them first - this set the tone for the entire appointment.
