When vianet bought out our local ISP we were promised no change in service or cost. Apparently this meant cutting out speeds in half, doubling the monthly cost, and saying they 'did not offer' the same unlimited plans (before suggesting to upgrade to an unlimited plan?).Customer service offers no suggestions to get better service, only that the drops of service we experience 'should not be happening'.A company that is not able to offer more than 1mbps upload speed for under $100/mo is laughable in this day an age. I can get better cost savings using my phone data for any of my needs. Will definitely be switching to a different provider.

I was a Rogers and Bell customer when living in town. After moving to the country I had Explorenet and hated it. Vianet put up a tower close by and they offered us a promotion to switch. We pay our bills and have had nothing but the best service and tech support. Our internet is down less than 50% when with Explorenet and the tech support people are amazing head and shoulders above the rest I shouldn't even have to say Bell and Rogers aren't even in their ball park. They helped me with my router that is not even their product when I had connection issues. Been with them over 2 years now I am even happy when their is a problem as they are great and quick to deal with.

Recently moved into a house that had used Vianet as their service provider. Within the first two weeks, a tech came by twice to remove the dish.When I was ready to make a decision about which provider to use, I decided to go with the same one to make it easier, as the arm for the dish was left on the roof by the technician.Upon calling, they told me that I had to complete a site check" even though they know there is service directly to the house and now I was told it will take up to 6 weeks just to hear back from them!How inconvenient

Had an installation crew come out to our house near Alliston in early January (lucky to have a warm patch of weather before snow stuck around) - despite a few hiccups with scheduling, I have to give credit where credit is due - the four person team that came out to setup a tower and configure internet service for us was efficient, professional, and just great overall. Hard working, respectful group of guys. Thanks to all involved. Look forward to the possibility of fibre in the future.

Been with Vianet for a few months now and have had a great experience with them. As someone who was with Xplornet LTE's service for a few years, this is a complete upgrade. We're currently on Vianet's wireless 40mbps down/4mbps up package and speeds are constant at ALL times. There has been no slow downs during peak hours and holidays. On top of the consistent speeds, latency is practically on par with FTTN technology. Pinging from google.ca yields an average of 10ms and saturating all 40mbps does not cause any bufferbloat/noticeable latency increases. Port forwarding isn't an issue either and works with no extra setup and does not require a static IP; but I believe a static IP can be requested. Overall, if you're looking for a WISP that is genuinely reliable, Vianet is your best option.EDIT: Since my original review, speeds have increased twice. Went from 40mbps down and 4mbps to 40mbps down 10mbps up and now 50mbps down 10mbps up.

Been a customer with the company that Vianet bought out, so I have a 16- I8 year track record. Missed two payments in all those years, by mistake, and both times they completely shut down my service without warning. They have no compassion and little or no customer service skills. Technical help on the other hand has usually been satisfactory. With limited rural options they are sadly the best choice of a very limited list.

Our internet just went down, the technician told us that it’s likely an issue with the Vianet box however apparently nobody is working on the weekend so the box can’t be replaced until next week. Escalated it to a manager who couldn’t be more rude and told us we are just a residential account therefore not important to them. Apparently working from home is a news for them and a decent customer service is not in their dictionary. We are exploring alternatives; it’s a small company that’s trying to compete with the big boys but behaves like bunch of children.

We are supposed to have speeds up to 100mb/s, but we lucky if we're getting 40mb/s on a good day. Don't trust what they offer.
