We had a group of six and it took us more than 1.5 hours to get a seat on a Saturday night. That being said the food was good but the drinks are desserts were the highlight for me. Yuzu beer and ginger beer was amazing. The black tea soft serve ice cream was the best part!!! Get the homemade ice cream for sure. Food wise it was a little over hyped: I read the reviews on google and a lot of people recommended the tuna salmon bowl so I ordered it. It was good but wasn’t fully worth the hype, it felt like it had more salad in it that salmon, instead I would recommend ordering the 48 hr pork or lamb. The fried beans for appetizer was good and came in a large portion.

I’ve been a loyal customer since the very first year he opened! He knows my face now! Chef is so creative, he is always smiling and talks to anybody at the bar. I’ve tried many Isakaya (Japanese bistros) in Vancouver, Toronto, SF, NYC, and Kazu is my top choice!

Despite my name - I am actually Japanese and for the first time since moving here I felt like I was eating real Japanese food. We ordered the bone marrow yakitori, forty eight hour pork w/ curry and deep fried beans - all of which were excellent. With that said, as is usually the case with small plate restaurants, the dish you least expect ends up being the highlight of the meal. Today, the green beans were no exception to this rule. The combination of rich truffle mayo and salty and crunchy beans was perfect.I was also surprised to find actual vegetable chunks in the curry. Personally, I prefer when restaurant opt to make a more homestyle sauce instead of blending it smooth.Overall, a fantastic meal. Will definitely be bringing my Japanese mother here.

Always a line-up. At this place, you will not find sushis but authentic Izakaya style Japanese foods. The place is always crowded. If you don't want to wait, start to line up at 16:45 when they open their doors at 17:00.

Had tuna salmon bowl, grilled calamari salad, pork burger, chicken yakitori. The calamari was really good , it was tender and well seasoned. Chicken was tender! Yuzu beer was good too. We went on a Saturday when it opened at 5PM, there was no line. But it got full in the first half hour. In general food was good and service was good. Will definitely go back to try other things.

Top-notch flavour and pricing. They seem to have a menu with different specials every once-in-a-while, and I got to enjoy some bone marrow toast with sundried tomatoes which was one of the best culinary experiences I've had.The 48-hour curry butadon was both enjoyable and affordable, but I did not care for the pickled ginger.Had to wait 30 minutes outside of the restaurant, but it was well worth it.

A must go to restaurant!!! They are the nicest people ever! They are super understanding when it comes to allergies. And the food is so flavorful and feels like you’re in Japan. You feel like you’re at home. I came here from the United States, and I would honestly fly back to Canada just to come back and eat here again. We came in 30 minutes before they closed and they were still were kind and sweet! We’re sorry we came here late, but thank you so much for the amazing service and food.

We went to Kazu with my partner because a friend of ours recommended the spot. Best izakaya food I’ve had outside of Asia. Absolutely delicious and fairly priced. If you’re visiting Montreal this is a must.

There is a reason that there’s always a lineup in front of this restaurant ! It’s simply the best one in town! So flavourful and mouthwatering! We enjoy every single dishes! I especially love the beef carpaccio, the sashimis and the shrimp burgers. The wait is about 45 minutes depending on what time you arrive. They make their own soft ice cream which is extremely delicious!
