Chalk Lake
It’s a serene, beautiful spot with a little bit of a sandy beach, dock, covered area to eat, lots of grassy areas to spread out a picnic blanket and a covered storage area housing paddle boards, kayaks, etc. It’s where I learned to paddle word for the first time!!Unfortunately, it’s a private lake with locked gate access for the 40+ community surrounding the lake. Fortunately, I have a friend who lives in the community who holds his annual client appreciation BBQ ( I consider myself blessed to be invited!)The community is super proud and protective of their lake and hiking trails. While hiking, I was impressed to come across an older couple MOWING the path for upkeep. When a young deer was discovered drowned in the lake in the spring (most likely fell in through thawing ice), a retired veterinarian rolled up his sleeves to haul it out of the lake so it wouldn’t contaminate the waters as the spring temperatures warmed up.So close to Dagmar Ski resort.
