I love the cinnamon raisin bread from this bakery. Everything they make is million times better than anything bought at a box store! Their treats are fantastic too - try the banana bread you won’t regret it

Hard Winter catered my wedding, with cupcakes and a two person cake. It was all SO DELICIOUS!!! All my guests loved the two different flavours. They even arrived ahead of time for the delivery. I would highly recommend them if you are looking for rustic but delicious baked goods.

Stellar each and every time. Whenever we are in Peterborough we make a trip to HW in order to snap up a variety of goodies. Prices are very reasonable and have loved everything we have ever tried.Never pass up their Brownies, or Tea Cakes if you have the chance.

Amazing customer service! I’ve been wanting to try this place because of all the positive reviews and high ratings. I came in and told the girl working at the front it’s just first time and I’m looking for something sweet and she showed me the summer sweet pastries. Have been wanting to try their sourdough bread as well and she was able to slice it for me and suggested to freeze if I can’t finish it all myself (I didn’t want it to go bad!)Taste is delicious and fresh! I know the sourdough bread, so nice and fluffy.Their chocolate cookie satisfied my cookie craving.

The craft of making bread and pastries and selling them to a grateful customer base, and doing so with a calm demeanour, love for community, and friendly spirits, it is a gift. That they look good and keep a clean and beautiful store while they do it, is amazing. Jessica and Graham are a gift to Peterborough. They employ great staff, they exemplify great customer service, and the product of their skill and labour is divine.We are so thankful!

Peterborough has some great bakeries, and Hard Winter is my favourite. I love the breads, the sweets, the special holiday bakes and the quiche are worth lining up for! Such a sweet shop with lovely staff. My recent Easter order was a massive hit (even the bakers in my family agree!).

AMAZING BAKERY! Everything is so good. Their focaccia is to die for, their wheat-free brownies are THE BEST brownie you will ever eat, hands down. Don't walk past this place without a stop. The staff are super friendly and helpful too.

I stopped by Hard Winter today during a walk through town, and the entire experience brightened my morning! Not only did I receive a delicious loaf of rye bread and a square of peach cheesecake, but the staff were so lovely. One of the bakers gave me a piece of focaccia topped with confit cooked tomatoes from his garden! Too sweet. You won't regret a visit.

This is a bakery you should stop at. If you want the best selection come before noon. Sourdough bread is one of their specialties but only available on certain days. Bread, scones, and various squares are all delicious and fresh that day.

Best bakery in town. Excellent sourdough and elevated pastries. It's where I take all my out of town visitors.
