The guitar I purchased from Alexander James Guitars is comparable to none. It's an absolute delight to play! The detail and quality is of utmost excellence. Having some time to get to know Alex as a luthier as well was eye-opening to say the least. The time and focus placed upon every instrument in his shop is really neat to see as well. He treats each piece as his own personal instrument, and the final product without a doubt displays his passion and devotion to the craft.

Excellent and fast service from Alexander James guitars. I've had Alexander do a neck repair on a Les Paul, add some upgrades to a Strat, and build me a custom guitar. I first had his service with the neck repair which was done quickly and I was very happy with the finished product. We got talking about different tonewoods and guitars and I made the decision to have him make me a custom guitar. I was impressed by the knowledge he had and his skills were top notch. I now have a guitar that I'm truly happy with. I would recommend his work to anyone for anything guitar related. You won't regret contacting him for your questions or instrument needs!

This is the second project Alexander James has done for me. This romantic parlor guitar had a split down the front and back. Alexander was able to fix this guitar from 1893 and make it sing once more. It was a true challenge. I would highly recommend him to anyone that is in need of a repair or a new guitar. I have been a bassist for over 25 years. Have played and owned many basses in my passed. Low end to high end. Alex built me a custom 6 string bass. It has been by far the most playable and consistent instrument I have ever owned. The action is incredible. I have a light touch playing style and use light strings. I was able to set this bass up the lowest I have ever had and still had rock solid tone and no buzz. Alexander's fretwork is the best I have seen. Alexander does not rush a build. He makes sure everything thing is 100% and will not build till the moisture content of your wood is perfect. You will never get that from a factory. That is why my neck is the most solid I have ever had. Since I like a low action and fairly straight neck. Neck movement is more noticeable. This neck is set it and forget it. I no longer have to fiddle my truss rod anymore.Sorry about the long review, but I can't say enough about Alexander James Guitars. If you want a quality instrument that is a one of a kind master piece of art and sound, then call Alex. I finally have my for ever instrument. Thanks Alex!

I bought a high end classical guitar last year which l didn’t want to give to just any tech for a proper set up. Actually took me about a year to pick someone. Glad I decided on Alexander. He got it to a perfect playable setting while still retaining its projection and improving its tone. Definitely had the sense the job was performed meticulously, definitely not the sense I’ve always had in the past from retailers. Highly recommend him and will be using him on future projects

A superbly talented craftsman with an eye for detail. Knowledgeable, professional, friendly and affordable. Alexander did a fret job, replaced the nut and straightened out a fret buzz on my Telecaster. The turnaround time was extremely fast, which is exactly what I needed. It was my first, but certainly not my last visit. I highly recommend Alexander to anyone who needs work done professionally, quickly and done right the first time.

I bought the Alexander James Ursa Curly Maple guitar. It is joyfully amazing. The neck is perfect. The weight is perfect. The combination of woods - maple, ebony, mahogany - is absolutely beautiful. The guitar is perfectly suited for me.Every detail is gorgeous, from the lovely maple top to the ebony pickup rings, volume and tone knobs, and tuning peg handles. Alexander's attention to detail is amazing. Everyone who has seen the guitar immediately remarks on the beauty of it. Two people, one a musician and one not, have told me it exemplifies the harmony of craftsmanship and music.For about a year before I contacted Alexander, I tried countless guitars, some of them as much as $6000. The quality of his guitar beats all of them.When I am playing it, I have a strange double feeling. I know that it is a new instrument, and yet I have a sensation that it's a great vintage guitar with a long history. That may sound strange, but I don't know how else to describe the impression.Alexander's passion for wood and guitars is inscribed in the quality of the instrument. I intend to buy more from him.

I brought my bass to Alexander James as I was getting some serious fret buzz. He did some fret work on it and set it up. I was really happy with his work. Very reasonable prices for the quality of work that he does. He takes his time to do things right and he knows what he is doing. If you like someone who explains things to you in detail, he is the guy to see. I highly recommend him, and I hope to have him build me a custom bass in the near future!
