Adult Safe Hockey League (ASHL)

Oakville Mens league horribly managed since the new conveners took over...cost of league continues to climb every season while league keeps getting worse!! I've played in ASHL for over 16 years and have never had issues until new management has come in!

The worst league I have ever played in. First year in the league and I will never, ever play here again. Awful referees let games get out of hand. It's chippy and not fun. Conveners that are only interested in protecting their own, incompetent employees. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere if you are looking for a truly safe and fun league.

The conveners don't want to listen to complaints from their over paying customers. COMPLAINTS fall on DEAF EARS regarding magical time disappearing, suspensions, moving up/down a level, they just DON'T CARE!!!!

It's really gone downhill. I was living with the mediocre ice and old, cramped dressing rooms, but lately the reffing quality has gone way down. Refs don't know the rules, they don't call penalties and let the games get out of hand. I'm playing in the ASHL because I want safe, rec hockey. I don't want my hand broken from slashes, or my neck broken being tripped into the boards. Too many our games only have one ref and they just want the game over, with no care for safety. Convenors don't seem to care.On top of that, it's one of the most expensive leagues and we get stuck with a ton of 11pm+ games. Definitely going to look at other leagues.

This league is absolutely terrible. Seems like each week they make up new rules and randomly decide to enforce them.The people that run it are completely out of touch and certainly aren't giving the players their money's worth.Last week they took 8 min off the clock in the third for no reason at all. It was so bad that even the referees were confused.Would not recommend this league unless you want to just give away your money.

Stole a whole period from my team!!!! This place is Terrible!

We all continue playing hockey as adults for the love of the game. I've been a paying customer (astronomical fees, mind you) at ASHL Oakville for almost 20 years. The management and convenors at this location DO NOT CARE about their clients. Us players have friends and contacts who play on other teams at ASHL Oakville, and the sentiment is all the same. In fact, one team rep we spoke to decided on moving their team to Etobicoke Ice Sports, which I can attest myself since playing there myself, runs like a well oiled machine. The jovial part about it is that every member of the team that moved to Etobicoke ALL live in Oakville!Unless you have no choice but to play at this arena, and not playing at all isn't an option, I would strongly suggest playing elsewhere. Between a defunct management, terrible overall staff, unkempt facility, and playing in the wild west" of all the ASHL leagues (maybe don't count on working your next day of work due to injury from referees not controlling games)

Only let you play on one team in playoffs. Yet they’ll take your money let you play than disqualify the team afterwards. Such a joke of league.

Mediocre league, terrible management. The awful communication/organization in this league lead to so many headaches such as the schedule not being updated, players being unreasonably moved to other teams without knowing and many emails/voicemails sitting for weeks without answer.

Calling ASHL Adult Safe Hockey League" is a farce! Refs let too much go and games get out of hand. I'm too old to get hurt playing bottom level rec league."
