The Boathouse Tea Room
Lovely place for tea and snacks! Reservations are often required for quick seating as the place is almost always full. Wide variety of teas and the sweets/food are absolutely delicious. Prices are very reasonable and 100% worth more than what you pay for. Outside seating overlooks the river and it's all around such a pleasant place to spend some time. Service is caring and friendly too.

Absolutely worth it. Their ice cream is so rich and decadent, and it’s something I look forward to every year. We got the cookies and cream and the bear claw flavours. So good!

A casual #AfternoonTea awaits you in Guelph at The Boath House. We had a tea for 2 people ($25 each). Our serving included 3 basic sandwiches (cucumber, tuna, and egg) all served on brown bread. Each guest has 1 scone served with jam & whipped cream (which was watery/melting). Each person gets 2 sweets but there are 4 DIFFERENT sweets served on the plate. It was very weird that we had to share the 4 sweets by cutting them in half (or decide who would get which two). I've never seen this done before! Scone had a classic crumble and flavour; it was our favourite bite! Fresh fruit and flowers made for a pretty presentation. Overall, it wasn't enough food for us. Mis-matched tea cups & saucers add to the casual experience of this venue. It’s a cute place right beside the river (they have an outdoor patio too) where you can eat ice cream and rent canoes and kayaks. If you want a casual, cheaper, and lighter meal, this Afternoon Tea venue is a cute option! #ontariotearooms

Really darling place beside the water. Had a family day out with the ladies for Mother’s Day. We enjoyed theHigh tea which fed us all beautifully!Good quality sandwich fillings, delicious scone and yummy treats. Only wish there was more variety beyond cookies for the treats.

Great local joint to get ice cream as a treat and enjoy the outdoors (can rent kayaks and access other river activities on certain days or stroll around). A lot of interesting flavours for everyone and insanely generous scoops to bite into. Would love to revisit to try the Tea Room!

This is THE PLACE is Guelph for an ice cream cone in the summer. Be prepared to wait in line if it's hot and nice out, but the line goes quickly. Beautiful location where you can hang out overlooking the river or take a stroll through Royal City Park or York Road Park along Speed River. They source their ice cream from Shaw's so you know it's good. They also have vegan/non-dairy offerings.

My son, who lives in Cambridge, was raving about how good the ice cream was at this place and coming from Vancouver, we know good ice cream, and we have so many good places. So we went and really blew me away. The scoops ate very generous, the price was very decent, and when we saw the large lineup, I knew it had to be good. Didn't disappoint.

My mom booked a high tea here for a small celebration of about 10 people. It was absolutely fantastic. So many choices of tea, and the food was delicious! I had no idea I liked cucumber sandwiches until I had tea here (also, the cookies were to die for).Very quaint and comfortable atmosphere. I would really like to return again soon.

The Boathouse Tea Room
The Boathouse Tea Room is situated where the Eramosa River and the Speed River connect. It’s a place to connect to ice cream while visiting Guelph. It’s restored from a century-old boathouse associated with Guelph’s river systems. The pink shop operates as both a popular tea room & an ice cream parlour. They are quite generous with the tasty selection of Shaw’s ice cream flavours. The cones are better than the ice cream cookies with dough that was hardened by chill time. There is a park beside the boathouse to calmly enjoy the treat & watch wildlife.Unfortunately I’ve not had the chance to dine inside the tea room itself. Each time I visit, they have indicated as being fully booked even when there were visibly empty tables inside and outdoor riverside. Hence docking a star from the experience!
