The best Mexican food I've had in Vancouver so far - and the owners were so friendly.I will definitely be back to try more of their menu.Don't leave with trying the esquites - you can thank me later.

Awesome little mexican place. Food made with love and care with healthy alternatives to traditionally fried staples. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended

Absolutely delicious Mexican food. The Elotes is amazing (it's a corn dish; I'd never had anything like it before and it is SO good). The restaurant is not air conditioned so if it's a hot day, you may prefer to get takeout instead.

This is a hole in the wall place but don’t be fooled by it’s sketchy look! The food is amazing as all of the reviews say :)Get the corn! Love sticky corn in general, but I’ve always eaten them plain, so I found these elotes rly special! 6.5$ for a corn is quite a steep price though.And get the pozol!! It’s a drink made with cocoa and fermented corn. It was so unique and refreshing, loved it.The tacos were a bit disappointing. The Mexican truffle one did not have any taste :/ quite a waste of 6$, and hence -1 star. The carnitas was okay tho quite fatty. Overall I had to drown them in hot sauce and lime.Loved how everything was healthy and traditional! You have to wait 30 min after placing your order tho. And takeout only, it’s only a kitchen.Price is quite steep tbh, but I don’t mind spending more for a unique taste and supporting small businesses! Would come back to try other stuff :)

Machete Mexican Ancestral Food
The food here is delicious and never disappoints. I used to eat here when they worked out of a kitchen on industrial dr and so happy to see they have opened their own restaurant.This by far the best Mexican food I have ever had in Vancouver. The tortillas are handmade and the filling is not greasy at all. It feels like I am eating real food, it actually tastes healthy. I think if you eat here you will not be disappointed.

I’m Mexican and I can assure you this is the place. The flavor is real! not some Americanized “Mexican” food. The best breakfast that I had so far in Vancouver. You should go! Don’t doubt twice!Thank you to the owners and all employees of Machete for sharing the real flavors of Mexico!

Machete Mexican Ancestral Food
Service was really slow despite being quiet at lunchtime. The food was okay, I was happy to try it but felt it was all a bit bland, the same blue corn is used in every dish so all 3 dishes we tried tasted similar. A bit expensive for what it is. Food was fresh tasting and apparently they hand make the tortillas fresh but not worth the long wait time.

I read the reviews calling this place the most authentic Mexican in Vancouver and it’s certainly a different vibe to the kind of margarita blend place that are more typical here. At the moment, the service is take away only and feels a bit odd ringing the doorbell and giving your order, waiting outside til she comes back. But the service was friendly. I got the recommended machete as most of the menu was fairly unfamiliar to me (in a good way - something different!).The baguette shape i was offered when the order was ready intrigued me. I was also given a ‘spicy’ sauce to accompany. The tortilla was very fresh, a little thicker but also very light texture. The meat was excellent. Cucumber and onion was nice to cut through and I appreciated the salsa to cut through the protein. It was also very filling so I look forward to going back and trying new items but might try something smaller. Highly recommend!
