Clara Hughes P.S. is one of the worst schools. The principal Mrs. Knight (not sure if she still works there) had no interest in being a principal or getting to know the kids. Most teachers there only care about the money, some are actually half decent. If you try to get in you have to wait for a student to let you in because the secretary doesn't even bother and teachers just walk by like no ones there. During PE they turn the volume up so loud that I'm surprised the students aren't deaf. My niece also used to go here, she would come home some days with bruises, which were far from trip and fall bruises. I went to talk to the principal (at the time) about it and she said that unless they know who did it that they can't do anything about it. Then one of my niece's friends told me that she saw what happened apparently one of the teachers grabbed her just because she was a couple minutes late. I mean in what world does that make sense. When I reported this teacher to the principal she said she would look into it and a couple years later still nothing no email, text, call or anything addressing this issue. Not Impressed!

This school is by far the worst ive seen. Population much to high, teachers constantly changing and the major bullying issue. They say bullying is not tolerated but when theres bullying and its reported nothing is done to the bully. Its always the one thats getting bullied thats punished. No wonder drop outs are getting younger and younger. I wish putting my kids in another school was simpler and less stressful. If your kid or kids actually have a heart and dont bully others dont put them in this school, it will turn them into bullies. NOTHING IS EVER DONE TO THE BULLY, THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE!!

This school has absolutely no concern for the safety and well-being of their students. On my child's second full day of Junior Kindergarten he came home with a large bruise on his arm, far from any innocent trip and fall type of bruise. We were told by our child that a woman had grabbed him to get him into line. The principal admitted to be the one to grab him, but then in a formal meeting quickly changed her answer to it wasn't her. Their main concern was if I was letting my child back into their school rather than to find out who was responsible for the abuse. It has been past 2 months they are silent still. They have proven that the only motivation for them and the entirety of the school system is to keep their own jobs.My motivation as a parent is the safety of my child and their peers.IF YOU VALUE THE SAFETY OF YOUR CHILD PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL

Clara Hughes School has gained a reputation as one of the worst educational institutions for several compelling reasons. First and foremost, the school has consistently demonstrated a lack of academic rigor and quality teaching. The curriculum is outdated, poorly designed, and fails to adequately prepare students for higher education or future careers. Students often complain about the low standards of instruction and the absence of challenging coursework, leading to a lack of motivation and engagement. Moreover, the school suffers from a chronic lack of resources, resulting in outdated textbooks, insufficient technology, and inadequate facilities. This dearth of essential tools and materials further hampers the learning experience and restricts students' access to necessary educational resources.Secondly, Clara Hughes School exhibits a pervasive culture of neglect and indifference towards student welfare. The administration frequently ignores student concerns, fails to address disciplinary issues, and overlooks instances of bullying and harassment. The lack of a safe and supportive environment contributes to a toxic atmosphere that impedes students' overall development and well-being. Additionally, extracurricular activities and opportunities for personal growth are severely limited, depriving students of a well-rounded education. Overall, Clara Hughes School's subpar academic standards, lack of resources, and disregard for student welfare make it one of the worst schools, failing to provide a conducive learning environment for its students. and clara hughes ps has a reputation of the teachers grabbing students and not getting in trouble for it.

My son in jk back in September of 2021 was bruised by a faculty member, Mrs Knights claimed responsibility at 1st, then the story evolved to she must have grabbed another child, then we requested to see the hallway or schoolyard footage, they said no because privacy issues, I raised the issue to the superintendent Gary Crossdale. he too said no malicious handling was seen on footage but we could not review it ourselves. Then I took it higher to a Jim Markovski, the superintendents higher up who refuse to let me see any school footage as well, we were promised that they took this matter seriously and even contacted CAS, I was informed this by Mrs Knights, which should show how much they care she said, I asked for a case number so we could be involved. I get a call the following week being informed by CAS that the issue was filed the same day, which we inquired about the case number, this all happened 6 months after the incident. I told CAS I believe the school was utilizing their services to intimidate my wife and i out of asking questions. told me they hadnt found anything to really investigate. Case was closed. Now Mrs knights has been moved to Whitby as a vice principle.
