Discount Car & Truck Rentals

Booked a car for Friday 1 pm. I called at 12:30 pm to arrange for the pick up. I was told the wait time is 1 hour or so. I called at 1:25 pm, this time they told me the wait time is 1 hour and 30 minutes!! Apparently they had negative progress in picking up customers in 1 hour. Finally they called me at 4:30 pm! (4 hours after my first call)I had a similar experience last year where my priority on their waiting list changed from 2 to 3 after 45 minutes of waiting (again negative progress)!! I stopped renting car from them, but I was unfortunately tempted to book again. Their booking system is completely useless and the way they manage their waiting list is insulting.I have had zero issue with enterprise car rental in my 15 to 20 rentals from them. You may pay a bit more sometimes, but you are treated with respect. The longest I had to wait for enterprise to pick me up was 30 minutes.

Normally I have had good experiences with discount car and the staff is very supportive expect last time they tricked me and gave me a car that had damaged rimes which were unnoticeable during the walkaround and then blamed the damage on me which is unbelievable on there side. Now they are making me pay for their damage. I have been renting car with them regularly since at least 10 weeks now and this is what they gave me as a Christmas present. I would have given negative rating if possible but because my past experience with them was mostly positive. I am giving them 2 stars.TIP: Please check the car thoroughly and do click photos/videos of the car as they would not listen to you no matter what.

used to be a great place. However, my recent experiences with them were terrible. very bad customer service. It's also not guaranteed that you'll be given a car though you already have reserved a car and got a confirmation email. Lastly, some of the guys working there are not polite to their costumers!I had a reservation and once I went to the branch, I was told that my reservation has been cancelled. They were claiming that I have hung up the confirmation call, while I did not do that. All my plans for that day got screwed up and I only received an apology and a ride back to my home!

Friendly staff, though understaffed at time I arrived to pick up my rental. Rates sometimes half of what big name competitors offer. I had booked a full sized car. Discount provided me a free upgrade to any SUV on the lot, which included a wide variety of choices. Vehicle had very low km. Discount does require you to bring your whole insurance policy if you're not purchasing their loss damage waiver. So be prepared, and be sure your policy has a non-owned vehicle rider.

By far the worst service ever. I always select Canadian companies when I can find one. This was a huge mistake with Discount. Charged me multiple times. When I asked the customer care, they responded (after 3 emails) that the store manager has contacted you and advised"!!! That's a lie.NOBODY

Upon pickup of my rental, the car wasn’t cleaned from the previous renter. It also didn’t have any windshield washer fluid or snow brush. Being that it’s November in Southwest Ontario....this should always be kept in the vehicle. Discount placed a standard hold of $150.00 on my credit card, but I had to fight to have that released. I didn’t return the vehicle with any damage etc, which they confirmed. Several dats after return of the rental, another charge appeared on my credit card for gas. When questioned why I was being charged for gas, when I delivered it with more gas then it had upon pickup, they argued and refused to refund me. The body shop could confirm gas amount, but a Discount manager, who never introduced himself, so name unknown, told me the body shop doesn’t do a return check, therefore irrelevant. I explained that at their charge of $2.50 per liter, I would never return a vehicle with less gas, as gas is expensive enough. I never received an apology for the condition of the vehicle upon pickup and the manager wasn’t interested in discussing this matter with me. I would NEVER deal with this company and especially this location.

Hands down the worst rental company I've had the displeasure of being a customer at.I reserved a box truck with hydraulic lift to help a family member move 4 hours up north. When I arrived to pick it up they informed me the lift was broken. Super. They assured me there was a ramp so I figured that'll do.I get it back to start loading it up and surprise surprise there is no ramp. I immediately call them but they say they can't help me because they are closing in 5 minutes and I should return the truck in the morning. Fantastic.I do just that and they were nice. I was told if get free KM on the rental and a refund on the first day. What a joke that was.When I finally got the bill I was charged for the first day and all.the kilometers. I called them and they said nothing was on my file, tough luck. I told them I had it written on my agreement so they told me to bring it in. I did just that and they apologized and said they'd fix it up and process a partial refund.Surprise surprise again. They never did.I gave up trying to get my money back. Clearly they need it more than I do if they need to lie and scam their customers to stay in business.Avoid them.

I had been a loyal customer of discount, until the last time that I got a very very small issue with the car. When I called them to ask for help, the rude lady who was talking to me answered with a disgraceful and disrespectful speech and said it's your own problem! I mentioned that I'm your loyal customer and it's not a true way of responding, she said go ahead and put a negative review for us.

The staff at this location were incredibly rude to me. This was the first time I've ever rented a car, and I went to pickup a reserved car.The process in store was confusing and the staff didn't really help.We wanted to add my boyfriend as a secondary driver for the sole purpose of being able to use his credit card for the deposit. They informed us that because he is only a G1 driver he can't, even if he is not driving at all (another car rental company was confused by that and said it was fine for them)So we had his mom come, but what they hadn't told us before that, was that her and I had to be on the same insurance. (The other rental company didn't even need to see my insurance papers). After they told us this, they LAUGHED at us.This is what really bothered me - I was polite the entire time. I understand that I don't know very much when it comes to rental cars. They do. It's their job. It's their job to educate people like me. Middle aged women laughing at a young woman trying to rent a car is absolutely disgusting to me. Grow up and treat people with respect.

I just left there now and beyond disappointed and feel robbed. I rented an SUV for this long weekend in Montreal, and bought 1 day insurance since my personal insurance will kick in the next day. I was told to go to Ottawa for a visual inspection to make sure nothing has happened to the car. I went to Ottawa but all their location were closed, they were closed before noon. It was a 2 hours 21 minutes drive from my hotel in Montreal to Ottawa. I went back to my hotel and couldn’t make the trip the next day because of the distance. Their office hours in Ottawa were very odd too. When I returned the car, there was no damage to it and the manager was insisting I pay the insurance for the rest of the days I drove the car. I told her that I can’t because my insurance already kicked in and nothing happened to the car. She threatened me that she will take it off my security deposit. I explained to her again about how hard it was driving to Ottawa 2 days in a roll for 2 hrs 21 mins one way. She was reluctant and insisted that I should not waste her time. This was beyond unprofessional and wicked. I want to give zero star but I can’t. I would not be coming back here and I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. It was my first time there and the experience was horrible. I will follow up with the corporate office because this is unacceptable.Do not rent the GMC SUV or any GMC car, I spent almost 300 worth of gas in 3 days driving that gas guzzler. Actually, do not go to this location for any rental, very rude set of people.
