What a great little shop! My daughter gave me a clamp on bird bath from this store at Christmas so I stopped by to check out the rest of their merchandise. Lots of great products for beginning or serious bird watchers, and a delightful co-owner willing to chat when it was quiet. I'll be back...

I do not go anywhere else for birding advice and supplies. The quality of products and help from experts is unmatched in the area. My favorite product they have are the variety of bird foods which caters to various species of birds. They make their own blends and it has worked wonders for attracting many different birds to my backyard.

A great selection of bird seed, suet, feeders, optics, plus bird books and gifts. The owners are knowledgeable and quite direct in the application of this knowledge. They won’t sell you anything you don’t need.

Outstanding store with everything you could possibly need for a birding adventure. We found a variety of feeders, baffles. A large assortment of seed, suet and other food for wildlife. An optics display stocked with economical binoculars to investment worthy technical scopes. A wonderful array of bird baths with or without misters, water wigglers, and/or fountains. And the gift/book/toy opportunities here are really fun to check out. Prices are very reasonable and the service will make you want to come again and again.Just watch out for groups of birders after an outting they like to hang out in the middle of the parking lot :)

I am new to trying to attract wild birds. I had gone to one of the home improvement stores but no one could really answer my questions. So I went to Freeport Wild Bird Store. Wow what a difference that was. Sam helped me, and she seemed to know everything, including answering questions I didn't know I had. There's a lot more to attracting wild birds than hanging a bird feeder. I was so pleased with my visit that I immediately told my next door neighbor so she could go there too. One of the most positive experiences I've had in finding a new business.

The owner seems to pick and choose who to give good service to. They have good products and good ethics - supporting bird conservation and education. I unfortunately had poor service, first by being led to buy a product that caused bird strikes on my window, and secondly by the owner who scolded me about feeding birds at all near my yard.An employee (or the co-owner) led me to buy a window feeder even when I asked her if it was safe for a house with picture windows. She ensured it was completely safe despite my concern, and in fact window feeders increase safety because it gives the birds a safe target to land on. However I had terrible bird collisions and had to take the window feeder down immediately- the evening that I bought it.Today, a month after, going into the store to get seed for my tree hanging bird feeder, and inquiring about my bad experience with the window feeder that I had to take down, the owner was rude and short with me, telling me that since I had a passive solar house I shouldn't have any feeder, not any distance at all from the home, anywhere near my yard. That even though I don't hear it, I have bird strikes all of the time, with my tree feeder, and that I shouldn't have it either. I mentioned that I think about this all of the time, and have had occasional bird strikes in this home, both before and after putting up the tree feeder, and that the rate of strikes after putting up the feeder didn't seem higher with the tree feeder, but it was indeed horrifying after buying the window feeder they sold me.I told him that I wanted to know about bird strike products, which I've been researching online casually for a year, and more seriously in the past months, knowing I would prefer to buy at a local store in the future (and not wanting those giant black stickers of hawk outlines) . Wanting to know what's best for my home, tree feeder or any feeder or no feeder at all, just to be safe for the birds, he was argumentative and not nice. I can't believe he couldn't hear my well intentioned scientific inquiry. I didn't design this home, but it's the one I live in and I do cherish wildlife and birds. I'm always looking to learn and do what's right. But instead at this store I got handed bad advice, first, then rude comments and short tempered scorn. Really frustrated by this experience.
