We got referred to Ian by the ladies at Rubaiyat when we were originally looking for a wedding band for my husband. We went in there and Ian was soooo great at explaining all the options, in terms of width, colour, texture, material etc., which was just so helpful because we hadn't experienced this yet and my husband was still pretty clueless about what he wanted and what the options even were!At the same time I caught eye of all the unique pieces he had, and we started talking about being able to customize an order from one of the third party designers he carries, or even custom design something with him in store. He asked my budget and had no problem working within that, and totally understood the 'rough' texture or finish I was looking for, and my desire for my wedding band to sync with my engagement ring but not match perfectly. I loved some of the rings he had in store that were a mix of yellow and rose gold from one of the third party designers, and he was game to try creating this same type of mix for me even though he'd never done it, I was thrilled.He sent me emails along the way about the design, I went in to try on the resin mood he had made after the design was completed, and he showed me the exact diamonds he'd be using to put in my band for approval as well. I was super informed the whole process.As you can see, it turned out beautifully and the colour is so unique and goes perfectly with the yellow gold engagement ring I have, and the champagne diamonds he used add a more muted brilliance to the ring. I really love it so much, I get so many compliments on it, and it's really special knowing it was created just for me.Thanks Ian!

I have chosen jewellery from Davidson Jewels for our wedding rings, for special birthday milestones and most recently as a very special gift to myself to recognize my career upon retirement. Ian’s unique contemporary design sense is what led us to his studio first in 2006, and again now. In this most recent case, Ian worked with me to source the perfect stone, worked on several versions of a design, finessed the fit, gave experienced advice on finish and design details. My fiancée and I had gone to a few jewelry shops in the city to find him a wedding band and just weren’t happy with the options that were pre-made in stores. I had always walked past Ian’s shop in his old downtown Calgary location and admired his craftsmanship through the windows but had no reason then to be buying beautiful jewelry.This time I knew that I had wanted to go to Davidson’s Jewels because he does custom work and now, his new location in East Village was right by my work!We set up an appointment and had such a great experience working with Ian! He was very professional, gave great advise and recommendations and we got to do a digital rendering of how the ring would turn out!We wanted it to be a rose gold band, but not too “pink” looking. So Ian was able to make the corrections to get the color and strength in the metal to how we wanted.Years later, we are still absolutely loving the ring and how it has aged. I purchased a custom engagement ring from Davidson Jewels. Working with Ian was a first rate experience. He was very knowledgable and patient throughout the design process until we had a ring that exactly met what we wanted with respect to the design, materials and diamonds. I have no regrets working with a craftsman such as Ian to get a truly special piece. No off the shelf purchase can compare to having a personalized, custom design. Also, I think the price is very reasonable for a one of a kind ring that often gets noticed and complemented on and will be with us the rest of our life.

We have had jewelry made by Davidson Jewels since 1999. Engagement, wedding, 10 year anniversary ring and the latest addition a family ring. I love them all. I still get tonnes of complements on my rings 20+ years later. My husbands wedding band is the best I have every seen. Ian's designs are classic, timeless pieces that stand the test of time. Already dreaming about that 25th anniversary ring. I think there is room for one more.

Ian created the most incredible and unique engagement ring and band for me.My husband went to Ian (after a lot of research on jewellers!) with an idea of what he wanted, a budget, and a timeframe. Fortunately, one of Ian's gem dealer was in town the next day so he was able to look at some stones straight away. Ian really seems to have an ear to the ground with his dealers and could offer access to stones not readily available else where. After deciding on a stone (a stunning green sapphire), and giving Ian a lot of information about me, our lives together, and our lifestyles, Ian came up with the most incredible design.Ian went above and beyond to create my ring, and I understand he worked tirelessly with my husband to ensure it was ready on the day and that he stuck within his budget.I constantly get comments regarding how beautiful my ring is, and I proudly state that it is an Ian Davidson design.I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a jeweller.

It was such a pleasure working with Ian. He was collaborative, listened to what my fiancé and I were looking for and provided information that we as first time diamond buyers did not know.The end result of both my engagement ring and our wedding bands was phenomenal. Ian was highly recommended by someone who has bought few of his pieces before. I was extremely impressed from the moment I walked in, Ian was absolutely lovely to talk to and work with. He even stayed open late to talk with me about the ring, my ideas and how we could incorporate my girlfriend's (now my fiancé) personality into the ring. His work is exceptional. I cannot recommend Davidson Jewels highly enough. We were in a real bind this weekend after getting a ring back incorrectly sized, before heading out of town on Monday for our wedding. Ian jumped in and had my ring resized and polished up so quickly. I couldn't be happier with the friendly, helpful, and efficient service Ian provided. I truly cannot thank you enough!
