I had a business trip here yesterday, so I entered this restaurant without any expectation or recommendation from local staffs. I didn't expect the quality of the food because it was new, but my thought was totally wrong.Interior was not fancy but was well organized. Hire Tonkatsu was amazing!I was speechless. It was very crispy and light, which matches well with the pork loin. The handsome owner and the clerk were so fun and friendly that I had a very enjoyable dinner. I highly recommend!

The food was totally legit, impeccable. We ordered a side of curry, which was better than anything I found in Japan. I cannot recommend it enough.I will be looking forward to my next visit.

Just had dinner here and I just had to write a review. This place is fantastic. I am usually picky about japanese food but my friends and I tried three different katsu (cheese, shrimp, and steak) and all three were out of this world. Instantly became one of the top 3 favourite restaurants in nanaimo. Thank you for the fantastic service and meal!

The food was good and service was friendly. It has a very specific and therefore limited menu. The cutlet could be the specialty of the house, but still offer a bit more choice.I have been for both lunch and supper and enjoyed my meals. My dining partner had trouble finding something to order.

Service was cordial and attentive. Food presentation is clean and visually appealing. Love the condiment selection that provided interest variations on the chicken katsu. I would like to try the lunch menu next time. Everything was good in here. I highly recommended this place.

Amazing food and lovely service. Unlimited miso and rice refills (but you won't need it). The curry is very good with the chicken katsu. They have a weekday special which is more affordable for lunch but the regular options are worth the price.

A very nice, cozy restaurant. The owner was very friendly and the food was delicious. Had tried all the cutlets from the menu, all of them were top notch. Would definitely come back again. Keep up the good work :).

Delicious meals! Wonderful presentation each bite is a flavourful sensation! Perfectly balanced meal and very nice staff as well !I love the pickled veggies they give on the side ! Wonderful ! If you love crunchy, delicious and healthy meals then this is the spot for you!

This delightful little restaurant is nothing but a pleasure for the senses. Located where a Korean BBQ restaurant used to be, Katsumi offers just one thing—tonkatsu (this is not to say there isn't a delightful selection of side dishes!).The restaurant is very clean and tidy. The servers and polite and the service itself is quite fast. The food is crisp, delicious, and flavourful, and—even though the menu seems a bit short at first glance—there are plenty of reasons to keep coming back.Katsumi is a great place for both lunch and dinner, but be prepared to plan your visits around its slightly unusual business hours.
